Delan desert

A vast expanse of hot, sandy dunes that lies to the West of the central mountain range of Ondala. It is difficult to cross directly, so most either sail around where it touches the coasts or follow the rocky foothills of the mountains and stop at the oases and springs along the way. Few settlers call it home outside of these few livable places, but trade caravans find their way through it to connect Ondala to itself, from North to South and East to West.

Geography

The Delan expanse is known for its towering, extensive sand dunes. The sand in these dunes mostly ranges from white to gold to red to black, sometimes with swirling bands of all colors. The desert region itself extends into the central mountain range of Ondala, where the wind and little rain has carved arches and spindly hoodoos into the dry, rocky slopes. 

There are only a few rivers in the region, and they often flow under the sand. Settlements stick very close to these and the few oases scattered at the feet of the mountains.
