Jewel Spring

Ryuna's Blessing

"The magic of this spring was Her generous gift to us, the ones not strong enough to ascend before the Splice. Why should we restrict access to what was freely given?"
— A cleric of Ryuna's temple in Paboto

A special hot spring just outside of Paboto known for its magical properties. It is wrapped in myth and legend, with many important figures in Thundermaw and beyond sent here to heal, recover, and thrive with the help of its waters.

Geography

The spring forms a pond that is is perfectly circular, spilling out to join the Seved River via a few brooks that spill from the edge of its basin. A path runs around the perimeter, which is dotted with shrines and temples dedicated to Ryuna. The pond's water is so clear you can see right to the bottom during the day, and the silver sand glimmers dazzlingly from the ripples at the surface. The hot water wells up from the center, where it is dangerously hot, but once it circulates to the edge it is pleasantly warm.

Localized Phenomena

When ever the water of the pond is disturbed by waves lapping, raindrops falling, or creatures swimming and splashing around, it glows a faint yellow that is best visible at night.

History

There were people living and building on this river in ancient days, but this pond's appearance is steeped in legend, and is said to have begun over two thousand years ago around The Wake. Ever since then, an order of Ryuna's clerics have tended to the pond and a village grew around it.

Tourism

This site is the destination of frequent pilgrimages from those seeking ways to cure their ailments. The temple here itself has many rooms with views of the pond for long-term healing, but some come for a quick blessing from a cleric or a bath in its waters. This latter ceremony occurs at the various places where steps have been built down into the water. Clerics usually carry the person into the water and onto stone beds just below the surface, where they are to rest in the waters as the spell Greater Restoration is performed.

There is also a festival that occurs on this pond once every year, when the constellation of Maleeha, Ryuna's first acolyte, becomes fully visible. People come to ride on the pond in canoes and light lanterns as a gift to the goddess.
