Stonebay

A south-eastern coastal city renowned for its deep waters and easy mooring, Stonebay is also known throughout the kingdom as one of the major fleeing points for rogue spellsters due to the large number of foreign ships that set sail from here.

Districts

The space within Stonebay's walled defences is divided into four districts: Northern, Central, Western and the Trade Harbour (known colloquially as Dockside). The Northern and Western Districts make up the majority of the city's size, with the latter being the biggest and home to much of the city's poorer population. The Western District is also the only one, beyond the Trade Harbour, to have access to the shoreline. But where the Trade Harbour caters to merchant and foreign vessels, Fishwalk Docks is primarily a local berthing point for fishermen and any smaller trade ship unable to pay the Trade Harbour's docking fees. The Trade Harbour is also responsible for much of Stonebay's wealth. It is a hodgepodge district equally full of heavily armed buildings and ramshackle quadrants. The docks here might be blessed with deep, calm waters throughout much of the year and are seldom empty, but the roads are a different story, with traffic from the docks habitually choking many pathways. Warehouses and inns are in abundance here, to the point that some of the former have been left abandoned and open to gangs, of which there are many. Before its violent closure by a King's Hound raid in 1881, it was also home to an underground slave ring. Holding the main barracks for the city guard, the Central District is touted as the safest place within Stonebay. It stretches to the easternmost part of the city where the Mayoral Castle sits atop a small hill. Beyond the western walls lies the fifth district, the Seven Fields, which consists of farmland. Because the city guard's reach stops at the gates, the people here are largely left to their own devices.
