First Death Mountain

Maearzil city is located near to the Heights of Death, an arid mountain, where some of the highest mountains in all the Fifth World are located. One of these mountains, the highest and from all Hais, and particularly close to the city, is a very popular destiny for the tourist that are here looking for thrilling adventures, beautiful sighs or challenging activities.
Tourists can choose between climbing the north face of the mountain, walk for a week through the forest in the other side. The forest is moderately safe, as long as you don't leave the path and lost your way. The cliff is a big risk for those without experience. It's solid enough and has several ledges, but it's almost vertical.
The top of the mountain is somehow plain, and the tour guides know where to find shelter and have the equipment to deal with the terribly low temperatures, giving the tourist the chance to rest for a while before starting the daunting trip back.
Several young people had died when they fall from the border, or while they were climbing. The authorities are not able to determine which cases happen on purpose as part of a local coming on age ritual known as The First Death. While the rite is banned, it's still practiced in private for some Maearzil's children and youngsters who hadn't start healing when they should have, come from distant places to try it as a desperate measure. I fails more often than not.
The rumors in the city and the theory that Hais' authorities believe, is that every one of these supposed accidents were, in reality, First Deaths that came wrong. That's what they started calling it First Death Mountain. There is no way to prove it, and with the regulations the accident rate has dropped considerably, but the name remains, since the mountain never had any other.
