Fire Pit

These day and time, people in Bruma think it's simply functional, but this pit with lava in the bottom and several ledges of all kinds of sizes on its walls has been a monster, a deity, a sacrifice place, and a touristic attraction. Geologists from Ogha and the Community have studied the area but without much progress. All we know is that, much like the Sea of Rock it's a mystery.

Geography

In the middle of the perfectly plain terrain of the Bruma, there's an abyss of 30 Km of diameter and unknown depth. The lake of lava in the bottom of the pit will rise at what appears to seem random times, for reasons that no one has been able to determine, but it's always at least a couple of kilometers away from the ground level.

Ecosystem

Not many creatures survive the extreme temperatures of the Fire Pit, and those who do don't go outside so it's not possible to study them properly. The exception are the few Thirsty Shadow that come to nest in the edges of its walls.

Localized Phenomena

This is one of the coldest areas in Ogha, it's perfectly normal to have snow falling over the lake of lava, the snowflakes turning into steam as while during the fist kilometer, in several cases forming a thin layer of fog more or less depending of how much snow it is.   There are stories about the lava would forming a solid coat of unknown thickness that could last days or years, until it cracked to let the lava rise almost to the border of the pit, often changing the pattern of the ledges in its walls. This phenomena doesn't happen so often anymore, and never for more than 16 days.

For a long time, the trees in Bruma were cut once they showed enough symptoms of death as it's done in the rest of the forest. It's tricky, because if they do it too early, there is a gap in the forest recovery; if they wait too long, the tree would fall and the wood is lost.   As a partial solution to the issue, a team of Pragmatic ecologists decided to use the heat of the Fire Pit to process the wood of fallen Ice Nest trees in the area. That way, now they can let them fall in their own time.   Moving the trees is almost as challenging as keeping a factories supported on a ledge of the Fire Pit and half with the aid of magic. Surviving the temperatures requires a mix of tech and magic too. But for now that's the best way to protect the trees and to use every little bit of the products of the farms in the The Bottomless Pit.
