Blackstone Prison

Arcanist Prison

"Final decision: sentenced to prison in Blackstone! We tried to convince Justitia to give your indirect arcanist accomplices a lighter sentence in a different prison, but she remained strict.
Slavery is a crime that knows no lighter sentences.
Life sentence for you, the mastermind of the operation, and 35 years for each and all of your accomplices.
To Blackgate for all sorcerers and to Rotgut for the non-arcanist slavers.
Send them to their final fate, soldiers!
...
And one more thing, Slaver...If you will treat your inmates as you treated the poor souls you sold like property...I can't guarantee your survival anymore.
Your fate will then get decided by Justitia herself...imminent and directly by her blade of justice."

High-Judge

Purpose / Function

The Blackstone Prison got founded initially as guild house for the Shadow Conglomerate, but the city of Scamall intervened and expanded the vision further.
While the upper floors of the ashen citadel are ownership and headquarters of the Conglomerate, the rest got to be, what is now known as the Blackstone Prison; a prison as secure as the secrets behind the Void Age.
Not a single inmate had ever left the citadel without the staff knowing.
"Got sentenced to Blackstone of all places?
Tough luck bub.
Doubt you will survive your 20 years sentence."

Architecture

To the denizen of Scamall Blackstone appears as a pitch-black warning sign flying in the clouds barely visible outside their city. Blackstone is located on its name giving 'small' reverse mountain hovering next to the main mountain of Scamall.
The entire plateau around the prison is property of Blackstone Inc. and gets used as a graveyard for the many people, who died on this rock. The main building however appears as an imposing dark-age castle with five enormous towers reaching two hundred meters up into the sky.
As you come closer one might notice the greenish shimmer spotting the ash-grey bricks of the prison.
The whole building got created with a single thought in mind: 'Cancel out any magic activity inside these walls.'
Every brick, every prison bar; everything is laced in some sort with the nullification ore Zabrit.
"This prison is hell on Prius!
Most of my inmates need months, sometimes years to finally get accustomed to the sickening feeling these amounts of the green devil ore cause on us.
There is not a single place where we could respire, not even on the toilets.
I can't use my lightning and can't remember the last time I haven't had this crippling nauseous feeling in my gut. At least I managed to not end like my former cellmate.
Poor soul suffocated one night from throwing up in his sleep. I would have helped him, but I had nightly duties in the kitchen tract.
Was only able to confirm her death when I returned."

Prisoners

Blackstone holds only the most dangerous and irredeemable arcanist criminals of the world...and slavers of all kinds, shapes and performances.
Example for crimes that usually result in a sentence to Blackstone:

  • (attempted)Murder

  • Rape

  • Slavery

  • Terrorism

  • High Treason

  • Every prisoner of Blackstone has to be an arcanist, as most of the suppressive mechanisms on the inside got specially tailored to keep only those defanged and the wardens healthy. The special security measures simply wouldn't suffice to reliably hold Purists as well as any non-arcanists.

    The Asylum

Before the Asylum got founded underneath the prison, with the mission to hold criminal Taken arcanists for experimenting on a cure against the dangerous condition, the act of committing any crime resulting in casualties, while being Taken by the Veil resulted in getting sentenced to Blackgate's high-security tract.

High security was in order because Taken were even in a weakened state unable to remain rational being a real risk for wardens and inmates alike.
