Royal Wedding

The Royal Wedding was a union formed between Crown Prince James of America and Princess Vanessa of Haiti.

History

During the hurricanes in Haiti in 2016, Prince James, accompanied by his aunt Grand Duchess Teresa visited the island in order to help coordinate relief efforts. They met with the Haitian Royal Family, including King Laurent I, Prince Royale Emmanuel, and Princess Vanessa. A cordial relation was established between James and Vanessa, and months later began courtship.

The engagement was announced in 2017, with the American Royal Court being split. It had been a long held belief that the Haitian Royal Court was inferior, with older beliefs being it was illegitimate. However, this engagement would not only officially legitimize the House of Christophe, but elevate it as well. Haiti had long had the reputation as being under heavy American influence. It was believed that King Henry III and Queen Mary held these ideas. Despite this, King Henry gave his approval, though declined an invitation to attend.

Execution

The Royal Wedding took place in 2018 in Columbia, in the National Memorial Cathedral. Prince Andrew served as Best Man, and Princess Vanessa was given away by her father, King Laurent. Princess Amelia read the ceremony reading. Notable in attendance were Grand Duchess Teresa and Grand Duke Edward.

It's nice to read something like this here. It's a shame that the Haitian royal family is viewed as inferior or illegitimate. Like the Grimaldis, who are said to be descended from pirates.
