Princess of America
Princess of America is the female stylization of Prince of America. The highest level of prince would be Crown Princess, which would be the heir to the throne if no sons are in line. The other daughters of the monarch are simply styled as princess. When a new monarch ascends to the throne, the sisters of the new monarch are made Grand Duchesses. Typically, all princesses are inducted into the Order of the Rose at the discretion of the monarch.
The role of a princess in the Kingdom of America has been in flux since the inception of the nation. The first Princess of America born into the title was Hortensia, daughter of King Augustus II and Queen Elizabeth. Her role in American politics was brief, however, as her mother secured her a marriage with Louis II, King of Holland.
As many princesses have likewise been married to foreign husbands for diplomatic and strategic reasons, many, such as Maria and Sophia had attempted to use some of the teachings from their upbringings to rule in their own right over their adoptive homes. In this particular case, it was the concepts of increased women's rights from attending the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848. Others, such as Grand Duchess Margaret, the royal duties are brushed off for a quite life as a minor noble.
Many princesses have been style with specific cities in their title. For example, Princess Maria was styled as the Princess of Hampton, and Princess Sophia was styled as Princess of Boston. This is simply ceremonial, and the princess holds no governing power over those cities.
