Duke Owain Bronzecourt
The aging duke of Whiteport, Owain Bronzecourt is generally popular but distant from the people of the city. A man of roughly sixty-five years old, Owain typically dresses in fine clothing or armor, although this apparel is generally from styles of his youth which have long since gone out of fashion. He has a round face with hard grey eyes, softened by the smile and laugh lines of age, and keeps his short white beard and hair well trimmed, and always wears his longsword at his hip. Content to remain in Whiteport Keep and handle the administration of his realm, Owain is considered just and diligent. In his youth, Owain was one of the Kingdom’s finest generals and is especially popular among soldiers, and he still hangs on dearly to the memories of past campaigns and battles, loving to recall the stories of his youth, even more often now that his mind has begun to waver. Known best for the cavalry charge which secured victory over the armies of the Vampire Count Drakehoff, and the scars of past battles and his old strength are still visible under the effects of age. Despite his aging mind and body, his authority is still well respected, though he has begun to lean more on aid from his close advisors.
Physical Description
Owain used to be a large man, but age has softened his body. Now he is slightly overweight, but still possess some of the speed and strength of the skilled soldier he was in his youth. He is missing a digit on his left pinky.
Owain was once a strong, large man, and his body still reflects that. He has powerful, broad shoulders and a thick neck. An old man now, he has definitely become somewhat frail, and his hands occasionally shake and he leans on his cane while he walks. Owain's skin is rough and wrinkled, although underneath there are clear, sinewy muscles, and it is clear Owain retains some of his famous strength.
Owain has a rectangular face with a strong jaw, which is covered in a short salt and pepper beard. He has a prominent brow and a large forehead. His hair has gone gray and remains thick. His eyes are also a stony gray color, and deep wrinkles reflect Owain's age and the stress of his life.
Owain is missing a digit on his left pinky, which he lost at the Battle of the Rush.
Owain is right hand dominant, and usually has an assured walk. He often carries a short oak cane with a bronze head carved into the head of a sea eagle, and he sometimes rests on this cane while standing or gesticulates with it like it were a riding crop.
Owain dresses in old fashions which went out of style more than two decades prior. His armor is well polished and maintained (and still fits! something he is proud of reminding others), although the armor is scored with scratches and dents. When wearing noble clothes, he usually dresses in bright colors, typically blue fabrics embroidered with gold with tall black boots like those worn by cavalrymen.

Mental characteristics
Owain was born to Duke Gawain 'the gallant' and Duchess Elainever, and was raised at court in Attica as a ward of the king after his father's death in 1498. At the age of 15, he was first introduced to his future wife, Nicolletta, to whom he was betrothed shortly after, and this introduction also set in motion the events which would tear the duchy apart almost a decade later. A member of Owain's entourage, a minor nobleman named Eric Drakehoff also Nicolleta and developed an insane obsession with her. This obsession eventually spiraled into a partnership with dark magics, and for almost three years Drakehoff and his supporters terrorized the Duchy in an orgy of violence and death, including the assassination of Owain's mother. Drakehoff was eventually narrowly defeated by Owain at the Battle of the Rush in 1508 A.C and was prevented from completing his transformation as a vampire.
After Drakehoff's defeat, Owain married Nicolleta and started a family, ruling Whiteport in relative peace and stability for almost four decades, and welcoming the births of two daughters and one son. Over the last decade or so, Owain's mind and body have begun to show the effects of age, and his mental health began to decline.
Owain was educated at court in Whiteport until his fathers death, when he was sent to Attica to be raised as a ward of the king. Owain received a standard noble education, learning philosophy, history, basic theology and magic theory, and above all, war. Owain excelled at martial pursuits, especially swordplay and horsemanship, and developed a reputation as a formidable warrior.
Owain has been employed as the Duke of Whiteport since his father's death, although he only officially assumed the full powers of the role from his regents in 1508.
Owain defeated Count Eric Drakehoff at the Battle of the Rush, securing his succession, and since then has been the victor in a handful of border skirmishes and minor engagements.
Owain's mind has begun to slip in his old age, and he often finds himself forgetting names and details. He relies on his councilors more and more for support as he enters the later years of his life.
Owain tries to rule his Duchy to the best of his ability, but recognizes that nowadays, while at peace, he holds more of a ceremonial role, and leaves most of the true management to his councilors. Nevertheless, Owain is generally a fair and just ruler, and tries to govern to ensure the most prosperous future for the people of Whiteport.
Personality Characteristics
Duke Owain is generally content with his life. On a daily basis, his goal is usually to keep Whiteport running smoothly, but he generally leaves the true governance of the city to his council and prefers to enjoy the comforts of a life well-lived. He feels he has lived a long life in service to his realm, and wants to enjoy the fruits of that labor and prepare it for his absence.
Owain is a talented tactician, and is a competent administrator. He also has an extremely high tolerance of alcohol. Owain is not particularly diplomatic, and dislikes what he refers to as "bean counting," or managing the realm's taxes and resources, and has no talent for numbers.

Owain is generally considered fair and openminded, and is willing to listen to his councilors and hear people out before making decisions. He is content with his life, and under his leadership Whiteport has experienced relative peace and stability.
Owain's hands tremor from time to time, and he tends to forget people's names or details.
Owain's hygiene has begun to slip a bit in his age, and occasionally a bit of spittle accumulates in the corners of his mouth or his eyes appear a bit crusty. Otherwise, Owain is generally a tidy person, but usually smells a bit like beer and metal.
Social
Owain is the current head of House Bronzecourt.
Owain is confident and is used to having his orders carried out. He has a somewhat martial demeanor, and has a commanding presence in any room he is in. He generally prefers to forego protocol and strict court etiquette, and would rather people simply treat him with respect and he will do the same.
Owain prefers to listen rather than speak. He occasionally forgets names and details, and will defer to his councilors for this information. He also tends to gesticulate with his cane or sword, making grand proclamations.
In his youth, Owain enjoyed participating in Melee's and tournaments, and still enjoys watching jousting tournaments, although he does not compete. Similarly, Owain used to enjoy hunting, but at his age he feels he cannot truly hunt without the entire hunting party fussing over his well-being. He continues to hawk and has two pet dogs, and also enjoys horseback riding.
Owain's speech is slow, and he almost always defers to others when speaking and prefers to listen and think before making a decision. When he does speak, he speaks with authority and in commanding tones, like an officer used to having his orders followed, and he is generally confident in them.
