Lord Bastian Dragunov (a.k.a. The Red Hawk)
A man strides by, his face pale and thin and framed by sideburns. He looks around him with disdain, taking in his surroundings, seeming to note every detail. He wears a crimson doublet over a charcoal colored chainmail undershirt which ends in fine silver cloth. He stands and moves like a soldier, and even at rest his hands tend towards a fine boiled-leader belt and the long, ivory hilted longsword which hangs at his side, and whose pommel ends in a carved eagle with two inset ruby eyes. Physical Description
Bastian appears extremely fit and strong. He moves quickly and agile despite his heavy armor, and it is clear he is a dangerous fighter.
Bastian has cold skin, and is very pale.
Sharp, angular features, looks somewhat aquiline or hawkish. Tends to look down his nose.
Bastian dresses extremely fashionably and typically wears fine clothes embroidered with house Dragunov's sigil over his armor. He wears the Redmont signet ring and a long black, hooded velvet cloak.
Bastian carries Predator, the fine ancestral sword of house Dragunov which was lost during Redmont's sack. He also wears a custom set of charcoal black chainmail armor with silver trim.
Mental characteristics
Bastian is the long-lost son of the deceased Lord Ulrich Dragunov, and his appearance on the scene of Whiteport's nobility has been the talk of much gossip. During the Drakehoff Uprising, when Redmont was sacked by Count Eric Drakehoff and used as his capitol, most of the Dragunov family was scattered or killed by Drakehoff. In the aftermath of Drakehoff's defeat, the Dragunovs were restored to Redmont. For years Lord Dragunov's third son, Bastian, was missing, until he appeared nine years ago after years traveling in exile, and was welcomed home by his father. Unfortunately, Bastian's return home was bittersweet, as his older brother died of of a fever which ravaged the Redmont nobility along with most of the other Dragunov children, leaving Bastian the sole heir. When his father died three years later, Bastian inherited the Lordship and since then has built a reputation as an inspiring general and one of the foremost commanders in the Duchy before finally being appointed Marshal of Whiteport.
Personality Characteristics
Above all, Bastian desires to promote order. He is frustrated by the frequent border raids and conflicts and wants to establish control and discipline.
Bastian is a brilliant tactician and a veteran soldier, and during his time as Lord of Redmont he has also built a reputation as a fair, if sometimes harsh ruler.
Bastian is usually serious. He enjoys hunting and long walks in the evenings.
Bastian is patient and intelligent, and is a dutiful leader.
Bastian is proud and harsh and often lacks empathy or sympathy. He is merciless.

Bastian is charismatic especially with women, as he is young, attractive, wealthy, and powerful, and he can generally leverage any of these traits to his benefit. He is cold and uninterested however, and does not seek out the company of others.

Towards Owain Bronzecourt
History
Although Stilicho is the chief counselor for Duke Owain, Bastian's recent rise has made him the second most powerful noble in Whiteport, and his power inevitably drew him to Duke Owain's court. His reputation as a skilled commander resulted in Duke Owain conferring the mostly honorific title "Marshall of Whiteport" upon him, both as a way to maintain to put his talents to use and maintain the new lord's loyalty to the Bronzecourts. Since then, Bastian has mostly been preoccupied with the worsening raids along the border, and as a result his duties frequently lead him out the city.
Commonalities & Shared Interests
Bastian and Owain are both competent commanders and soldiers, and share a love for strategy and the military.
History
Stilicho and Bastian have a complex relationship, as both respect one another for their competences, while they view one another as potential rivals and threats to their position, as they frequently disagree in council meetings with Duke Owain. For now, Stilicho continues to have Duke Owain's ear, Bastian is actively working to replace Stilicho as Owain's chief advisor and expanding his powers as the border raids worsen, threatening Stilicho's position.

History
Gavin and Bastian have an extremely complex relationship. Gavin both admires Bastian, and sees him as a potential role model, but is also aware of Bastian's potential threat to his position. However, the two are friends, as Bastian seems to have made himself Gavin's ally, especially in increasing Gavin's role in Whiteport's governance and in supplanting Stilicho's position as Duke Owain's closest advisor. Gavin sees Bastian as a friend, mentor, potential rival, and person to emulate, and in many ways Bastian is the many Gavin believes his father wants him to be, and Gavin envies and resents him for it.
Bastian is extremely wealthy as the Lord of Redmont, the next second largest town in the Duchy after Whiteport itself. Redmont is fairly rich as a result of its extensive mining and metalworking industry, and is a military hub as well due to its position close to the border, where it serves as an important defensive outpost and staging area. Bastian is not ashamed to flaunt his wealth or power, and wears expensive clothing and fine gemstones. He typically travels in an ornate carriage or on a massive sable warhorse.
