Admiral's Hall
Introduction
The Admiral's Hall serves as the political and administrative hub of Seastone, where the Admiral and their council oversee the city's governance. It is the seat of power, hosting diplomatic meetings, policy discussions, and critical decision-making sessions. Here, Harvek Bronzebraid enforces the directives of the dwarven kingdom while mediating the growing tensions between Seastone's diverse population. The Hall is also where citizens can petition the Admiral or city officials for support, justice, or resolution of disputes.
History and Construction
The Admiral's Hall was constructed shortly after the dwarven kingdom took official control of Seastone, sending Harvek Bronzebraid as the city's first Admiral. Built atop a natural rise overlooking the docks and shipyards, the Hall symbolizes dwarven authority and provide a commanding view of the bustling city below. Its construction was part of a broader effort by the dwarven kingdom to formalize Seastone's role as a key economic and strategic asset.
In its early days, the Hall was sparsely used, as Seastone's small population required little oversight. However, as the city expanded and its technological innovations gained recognition, the Hall became a focal point for governance, diplomacy, and negotiation. Over the years, it has hosted critical meetings with foreign merchants, investors, and even representatives of the dwarven kingdom who sought to ensure Seastone's loyalty.
"The sea is an unpredictable beast, much like the people of this city. My duty is not to understand it but to ensure it serves the kingdom’s will."
Governance
The Hall functions as the nerve center of Seastone's administration. It houses offices for key officials, meeting rooms for councils and committees, and archives for records and documents. The Admiral’s personal quarters and private study are located in the upper levels, providing a space for quiet reflection and strategy.
The Hall is also a venue for public forums, where citizens can voice their concerns or celebrate citywide achievements. Special ceremonies, such as the commissioning of new ships or the honoring of significant contributors to Seastone's success, are often held in the Hall’s grand courtyard.
Harvek's authority is far from absolute. His lack of seafaring expertise often draws criticism, particularly in a city that values innovation and progress over tradition. His pragmatic, kingdom-first approach frequently puts him at odds with Thormir Stoneshaper, Seastone's visionary founder. While Harvek represents the interests of the dwarven kingdom, Thormir embodies the city’s rebellious and innovative spirit, creating a tension that often plays out within the walls of the Admiral's Hall itself.
Architecture
The Hall’s design reflects dwarven craftsmanship but incorporates subtle nods to Seastone's maritime identity. Built primarily from polished pumice stone and reinforced with metalwork, the building exudes a sense of durability and authority. Large, arched windows are framed with intricate carvings of waves, anchors, and ships, blending the city’s sea-faring ethos with its dwarven roots.
The main entrance features towering double doors made of dark oak wood, inlaid with bronze reliefs depicting scenes of dwarven engineering and naval might. Inside, the central chamber is dominated by a circular council table surrounded by high-backed chairs, where the Admiral and their advisors deliberate. The walls are adorned with banners bearing the Seastone crest, and glowing crystal sconces illuminate the room with a soft, warm light. A unique feature of the Hall is the Mariner’s Map, an expansive mural etched into the floor of the central chamber, depicting the seas surrounding Seastone and the Kingdom of Louthiran with intricate details of known and uncharted territories.

The Admiral
Interestingly enough, the title of Admiral was a deliberate departure from the traditional dwarven titles. The dwarves, unaccustomed to maritime life, chose the name to symbolize their adaptation to Seastone’s unique seafaring identity. Harvek Bronzebraid, the current Admiral, is an emblem of this shift. Though he has no experience with maritime endeavors, Harvek accepted the role and title to serve the Kingdom of Louthiran, maintaining royal oversight in a city brimming with entrepreneurial ambition. Harvek's primary duties include enforcing the kingdom's policies, ensuring the steady flow of resources and trade, and keeping a watchful eye on Seastone's increasing independence.Related Articles
