Punt & Scull

Wind Powered Raft

Constructed primarily from the remains of Allegran camels, these sleds are used by the vererant grasslanders as a way to transport anything or anyone too heavy to carry in a regular pack. Being nomadic has disadvantages and although the resources required for a clan to build large punts is high, they have many uses and can make life easier for the entire clan.

A special seat is built and attached to a central wedge-like ski with a smaller, similar pontoon strapped to either side for balance and weight distribution. Thanks to one of the few animals ever domesticated by the vererant grasslanders, they occassionally have first access to the carcasses of Allegran camels, which are incredibly useful. These camelids aren't as well adapted to extreme temperatures as other species of camels are, but they have developed a unique defense against the local avian and kakornio threats. To protect them from ariel attacks they have several large plates of bone that protrude from their spine that shelter the organs they use to help retain water. The *Camel Bone* clan are especially known among those who've studied the Uklidnit Pastvina tribe at the Dannamore for using these large bone plates as sleds or the more sophistacated version commonly referred to as the tri-glider. Thanks to Nariman Zandos, the Dannamore University has several detailed scholastic papers on the cultural and practical applications these vehicles have among the seperate Uklidnit clans but his most notable observation is that nobody from the vererant people knows how to have any fun.

The bone plates are sometimes decorated with etchings or even painted or dyed before being treated with an alchemical tincture that gives the bones additional hardness and preserves the natural flexibility as it wears and ages. The inner layer of durable flesh from the stems of stormweed plants is used to make a long rope-like tether that attaches the
As a reference, some younger adults refer to riding one of the smaller punts as 'camel surfing' despite the fact that the camel is dead and surfing is usually reserved for bodies of water.   Some scholars actually think the Allegran camel should be it's own class of mammal, not just a type of camelid due to the major physiological differences between them and the other species of camel. Thus far nobody has cared enough to draw up the declaration.
