Efarish
pronounced; eh-far-ish
This small group of mostly humans are advocates for magical and racial diversity. Although there are very few places where outright racism is tolerated within Allegri, predjudice and exclusion are ingrained within certain customs that are based on 'old-world' thinking.
Being a relatively new movement within the human capitals has allowed their philosophies and practices to grow relatively unopposed until recently. The Blanks have recently decided that the Efarish may pose a political threat and are currently investigating Efarish interests, however benign they may seem. Common opinion at the moment is that although truly well-intentioned, the Efarish are naive and in pursuing their goals and could easily see themselves misled by more devious individuals among the species they welcome into their ranks.
Many outside the efarish community assume that it's origins trace back to the Fortum, a culture of isolationist elves that aligned themselves with humans to establish what is now a human capital, Clavier. This isn't true, however they see what has been accomplished by integrating other species into society and believe that humans have much to gain from welcoming diverse peoples into thier communities.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
Many of the older Efarish have learned to speak a bastardized version of Fae they call 'Efar-fae'. Originally conceived as a bridge-language between the common human language and that of the fae, it was relatively ill executed. Intentionally building a language comprised of elements from two culturally and racially significant languages is considered by many to be offensive and now the younger generation of Efarish are distancing themselves from the language but know it was a major misstep by their cause.
Shared customary codes and values
Efarish have based their values and behaviour around a single concept; all life has equal value.
This thinking originated from the experiences and literary works of a man named Drolius Efaris who was popularized as an explorer and writer. During an expedition to the southern regions of Allegri, his troupe became lost in a strange forest. There, as writen and recounted many times, they encountered previously unknown fae, enchanted plant-life, and the leaders of a powerful magocracy that has existed since before the known history of humankind.
Here, they learned how these ancient fae live in harmony with the world around them. When Drolius and his expedition departed, the fae provided safe-passage through the dangerous wilderness around them and left them with the knowledge that human customs and rituals may not be the pinicle of culture they once thought.
