Rainbow Fog

Rainbow fog is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many, highly sought after by those who want to experience the wonders of the world. To enter the fog is to enter a funhouse of sorts. It distorts perception and makes things not as they normally would appear. It does not change the state of the object or the person experiencing it but of the experience itself.

A Unique experience

From the outside, Rainbow Fog looks like a fog of bright light. Entering the many-colored sparkling barrier will transform the world. The fog will be dense, one may be barely able to see the hands in front of their face, and their sense of aura will be dulled to near non-existence. However, when something is close enough, one's experience of that something will never be what is expected. Colors will distort, understandings of an object's being will be altered, and all six senses will be thrown out of wack.

The experience will vary from species to species. Some are more affected by the alteration of color and some will experience a sound completely differently than another. An apple to a Vinsel will be tan like leather and to a Tsohtsi it will be like obsidian. A Kes strum may sound like a flute, a growl, or even shattering glass. One will feel energized while in the fog, ready to act and experience. This is not true energy as they will have the same capacity to do as they would have before entering, only feel that they would have more. The fog will also warm those inside.

A Perfect Storm

The fog occurs when several natural phenomena happen at once. The first is that there must be a fog, a humidity of 100% typically after heavy rain. Next, the area must be charged, ready for Spark Blisters. The sayklight must also be directly overhead and without restriction (no clouds or anything obscuring the sayk. Finally, the fog must have a velocity perpendicular to the sayklight. If all aligns, a rainbow fog may form.

This will happen in only some areas in Kald once every few decades, maybe once in some creature's lifetimes, if at all. The correct condition for sayklight can be tracked astrologically per area and will be ready infrequently. But then, there must be a fog, there must be a dry spell before hand, and the winds must prevail in a favorable way. Getting all the criteria together is what makes the rainbow fog so rare and such a treat for those who get to experience it.
