Tale of Two Sisters: Episode 03 - Oki Tekiina
A few hours pass since Wilhelm Ironbark had a glance into The Journal. The positive festival atmosphere has dwindled down significantly. Artor Mirauvai returns back into the halls once more alongside his advisors. His advisors tell him that Akōra has never had such an attack happen before especially during the Festival of Masks. Pressure continues to increase as the crowds become uncertain.
Veneshi is seen running into the halls apologising to Artor Mirauvai as a woman rushes in shouting: "They took her! You have to do something Artor!". As more guards enter behind, they speak of a ship that the assailants escaped on, a guard claims he saw a small girl being taken away with them but they were too late.
It's revealed that the girl in question is Marie Kinato's daughter, Tillina Kinato. Exactly why she was taken remains to be seen.
Quick judgement and guesswork, presumes that the ship sailed towards the North-West, with The Nenrai guard ships tracking them across sea to guage where they are going without inciting an attack as it was made clear to Artor Mirauvai.
According to Jalon Korvot who sat amongst the crowd, he overhears the conversation and inputs that there isn't any other place they could have gone to but Sersinara, as they're intentionally sailing against the wind to make distance.
Artor Mirauvai makes preparations for the guards to gather any other information which may shed light on what's happened. With the The Nenrai numbers down, Artor Mirauvai unfortunately tells Marie Kinato he simply can not spare any more men on a rescue effort whilst the town has been attacked this way, as his priority remains in protecting the people here.
Dentai Morgan approaches Artor Mirauvai with a suggestion to ask the Akio who have proven themselves capable of fighting by helping alongside the The Nenrai and also winning this year's Akionetakoro.
Artor Mirauvai promptly considers the suggestion and asks Saladar Al Shalim, Gnaw'd Rotflesh, Jascha & Wilhelm Ironbark to stand.
Artor Mirauvai mentions that his dynasty has never failed to deliver an Oki Tekiina.
Saladar Al Shalim, Gnaw'd Rotflesh, Jascha & Wilhelm Ironbark accept the Oki Tekiina.
An agreement is met with Saladar Al Shalim & Artor Mirauvai to have a sapling of The Atakoro Tree be delivered to his sultan, Sultan Samawi III.
After, the protagonists are escorted to their rooms to rest for the night along with the winnings of Festival of Masks is also brought to them. It appears the situation around Akōra is being handled by The Nenrai and guests, residents are told to return if they so wish.
Once in their rooms, each person is delivered a chest containing an Enershi Medallion and a letter that reads:
“In these grave times, I would like to ask if you would assist on the rescue to Sersinara, you have all proven your worth. You are Akio now, as such you inherit all the earnings, Dentai will organise them delivered to your quarters, and I will arrange for you a place to rest tonight. If you’re injured, my court doctors will assist you.”
“I will grant, under the name of the Mirauvai, I myself, Lord of Akōra, Guardian of the free-citizens of Kagayakiji, first of my name, each of you, the Akio. The remuneration of the Oki Tekiina, on condition the quest is completed.”
Maximum of 2000GP. An item request, a house, a ship, or land etc. Rewarded until completion of quest.
You are the victors of the 16th Festival of Masks Tournament, The Akionetakoro.A member of Artor Mirauvai's court explains to the characters in the morning that they are to meet at the docks in the afternoon, whilst preparations are underway to take them to Sersinara. In the meantime the protagonists decide to split up and head through Akōra's port district. Saladar Al Shalim uses the time to send a letter to Sultan Samawi III at The Whistling Canvas of the arrangement he has made with Artor Mirauvai unbeknownst to the group. Gnaw'd Rotflesh, Jascha & Wilhelm Ironbark head straight to The Fiery Fish to have something to eat before the long journey ahead. They realise that the The Fiery Fish is owned by Marie Kinato's husband, Brodran Kinato. Marie Kinato is thankful for the protagonists help in rescuing her daughter and in return has given them gifts for their journey ahead. She tells them that the town has come to nicknaming them, "The Crimson Companions" based on their red ribbons they wore in the Akionetakoro. Saladar Al Shalim eventually joins them at The Fiery Fish after a bit of shopping. During the time in The Fiery Fish, Saladar Al Shalim approaches the bartender who is Brodran Kinato and engages in a conversation, revealing himself as Tillina Kinato's father. He explains how his friendship with Artor Mirauvai waned over the years as Artor grew closer to Anriel Mirauvai. He didn't want it to feel like as though Artor Mirauvai was pretending to care about him or his family. When Brodran Kinato's father, Hanad Kinato sailed with Lord Zohtan Mirauvai on the journey to Sersinara aboard The Expedition. Zohtan Mirauvai brought back an elf-girl who, according to Zohtan Mirauvai was saved by Brodran Kinato's father, who never made it back. Brodran Kinato still believes his father is still out there and it's also believed a big reason why Nemitha Adaran was tasked by Artor Mirauvai to send a group out to Sersinara was to locate Brodran Kinato's father. While Saladar Al Shalim learns all of this from Brodran Kinato. Gnaw'd Rotflesh pays close attention to a dagger that is being held by him. Gnaw'd Rotflesh makes a daring attempt to take the dagger which turns out to be successful. The dagger in question was described by Brodran Kinato to be forged from Sersinarian Steel, one of few artifacts brought back from Zohtan Mirauvai's journey. Brodran Kinato believes it to be a pity gift from the family in absense of his father. As the protagonists finish up in The Fiery Fish. Veneshi enters to inform the them that the ship is now ready to embark. The characters begin to make their way to the docks.
I would like to congratulate you, you have all excelled in each of the areas of the Enershi traditions.
Should you choose to, you may engrave your name on The Atakoro Tree.
It has, for generations carried the names of various members of my family, and since The Akionetakoro, various names of Akio. You have earned the honour to have your name amongst legends. I enclose in this chest the winnings. 500 Gold Pieces & Enershi Medallion. May your futures be bright. Akio.
