Overview
The Protectors of Araska were a legendary group of adventurers known for defending the continent against monstrous threats and ancient evils. The group consisted of a fierce fighter, a skilled bard, a sharp-eyed ranger, a cunning rogue, a powerful wizard, and a devout cleric. Together, they took on fearsome enemies, from dragons to undead horrors, becoming celebrated heroes throughout the realm. However, after a significant disagreement during a mission in the Everfree Mountains, the group parted ways, with the fighter settling in Fan’dori while the others mysteriously vanished.History
The Protectors of Araska were a legendary group of adventurers who roamed the continent, battling monstrous threats and safeguarding its people. Comprised of Jamie Hicks, a skilled human fighter; Phelia Dropcone, a charismatic tiefling bard; Arviridir, a cunning wood elf ranger; Trixie, a nimble goblin rogue; Sirius Qualmash, a brilliant blue dragonborn wizard; and Trevor Quartzhammer, a steadfast dwarven cleric—this diverse band of heroes faced dangers that few could fathom.Their journey began with the slaying of a young white dragon named Flyndal, who had been terrorizing the eastern regions of Araska. Though the battle was grueling and the odds stacked against them, the Protectors prevailed, slaying the dragon and making Flyndal's likeness the symbol of their group. From that moment on, they went on to vanquish ancient dragons, age-old liches, and even cheat death itself on several occasions, cementing their place in history as true defenders of the realm.
However, as with many tales of great adventurers, not all was destined to last. During an expedition atop the perilous Everfree Mountains, a disagreement arose between Jamie Hicks and Sirius Qualmash over which path their mission should take. Accounts from that day differ, but according to Jamie, the argument led the group to split, with Sirius and the others going one way, and Jamie taking another. Tragically, this marked the last time the Protectors of Araska were ever seen together. While Jamie settled in Fan'dori, where he resides to this day and runs the tavern "The Fiery Dragon," the fate of his companions remains a mystery. They have not been seen for over seven decades, with no clues as to whether they perished, traveled to another land, or even another plane of existence.
Their legacy, however, endures. Jamie often regales new adventurers with stories of their exploits in his tavern, keeping the memory of the Protectors alive and inspiring future generations to take up arms and protect Araska as they once did.
Quests
One of the Protectors earliest exploits involved the young white dragon, Flyndal, whose icy terror gripped the eastern regions of Araska. Against overwhelming odds, the Protectors faced the dragon in its frostbound lair and emerged victorious, their triumph forever immortalized by the dragon’s likeness in their banner.In the heart of Araska, they saved the town of Redwater from a deadly plague that swept through its streets. The Protectors uncovered the source—a cursed artifact buried beneath the town’s well—and with their combined strength, they destroyed the ancient evil, restoring peace to the town’s beleaguered people.
Their bravery was further tested in the siege of Hollowbrook, where the small village came under siege by a warband of orcs led by a savage war chief. The Protectors led the defense, turning the tide of the battle and defeating the war chief in single combat, saving the village from certain destruction.
Perhaps one of their most renowned victories occurred on the Day of Starlight in Fan'dori, where they subdued Soundwave, a servant of Téridax, God of Death thought to have vanished after his master’s defeat. Despite his powerful magic and cunning, the Protectors managed to imprison Soundwave in the Citadel. Though Soundwave later escaped, the Protectors’ swift actions on that day spared Fan'dori from his masters destructive wrath.
