Telurai (Tel-ur-eye)

Basic Information

Anatomy

Telurai are all bronze-skinned humanoids, sporting the pointed Triaxian ears of all Triaxian off-shoots. Physically, they are built very similarly to other Triaxians, though tend to be more physically resilient than others, and are able to handle Sun Metal without suffering serious burns.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Eyes of Xiar

A small, thin secondary set of eyelids underneath the primary eyelids that enhance low-light vision, the Eyes of Xiar are more like a second iris for focusing light than eyelids. The external nature and the fact that using them is voluntary has led to the Eyes of Xiar being defined as eyelids, though this is is still often debated.

Sylvan Ears

A trait passed down through the Triaxian offshoots for millennia, the Sylvan ears of a Charai are often though to grant them and other Sylvan species superior hearing, though this is not the case. Small variations in the design of the ears actually provide them with superior hearing in specific circumstances, though this is usually just in the region around their homes.

History

Created through the bond of the first 'Chosen' of Telsin, the Telurai find their origins in the slave pits of the Slave States, as enslaved Kalurai. Many turned to sun worship in order to survive their harsh conditions, with one defiant individual becoming the first Telurai. This individual, known as the Lord of Chains, would shatter their bindings with the power of Telsin and lead a slave revolt so potent that it, ultimately, destroyed the Slave States. The empire they would go on to forge would last for 724 years, until the ravages of the Long Summer proved to be too much for it to handle. Most Telurai find themselves spread out across Ahuduir, as members of various ethnic groups, though some remain in the old imperial heartlands dreaming of a time long gone.
