Aelf

Aelfs, also known as Sunkin or Elves, are nearly completely identical to Dromespo, being naught but a subspecies or variation of the Drow. The tragic figures, defined by hatred and created by sorrow, the Elves know no respite.

This si oen of the main points of difference between the many subraces of Aelf and the Dromespo. The Drow are strengthened under the moonlight, while the Aelfs are heightened by the Sun, leading to one of their bynames, the Sunkin.

Social Structure

Aelf's are fairly egalitarian between genders and ethnicities, valuing intelligence and scholarship over all else. While there are no real social boundaries, someone considered smarter than someone else will be deferred to when in need of a leader.

Names tend to be Gender Neutral, being literal names in Devkarin for anything.

Most Aelfs are a part of Achronis. Funnily enough, despite their origin, there have been a few Aelf Lati, but these are extremely rare.

Most Elves speak a dialect of Devkarin, in addition to whatever langauge they would speak as part of whatever state they're a part of.

Common Dress Code

Most Elves are expected to dress in scholar or researcher clothing. Many of those who are part of the Natural subspecies of Aelf dress instead in foresting gear.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

The Aelf's cultural heritage is based around their hatred of both Laran and the Drow. Anything that goes against their values is something they will accept and incorporate, though they still share the Devkarin's belief in Achronis' founding values.

Identical to Dromespo, but for one thing. Due to their desperate turn to cannibalism and strange magicks to survive their radiative plight, alchemy and cannibalism are super big no-no's.

History

Aelfs began as a large group of Dromespo captured by Larani slaves. Maybe 200,000 or so, they were being transported in a slave fleet, when a rebellion broke out on the capital ship, the one which was guiding the rest through the Tzaran Streams. An explosion in the engine room caused the entire fleet to jump back into realspace, without the need for a wormhole. How this happened is debated, but it doesn't particularly matter, as the fleet had existed Streamspace close to a sun which was going supernova.

This annihilated most of the fleet, with the slave barges and the capital ship being the only survivors, due to protections a Nameless hiding among them cast over their ships. The radiation, combined with the Kali Energy, mutated the Drow into the Aelfs known today. They drifted in space for a bit, having to resort to cannibalism and other dark practices to survive. Eventually they found a wormhole and made it back to Achroni space, and have since had a cultural hatred for Laran which surpasses even the rest of Achronis.

However, when they returned to Achronis, the Drow rejected their mutated brethren, saying they had been warped beyond recognition. The conflict around whether they should have been reincorporated into Achroni society, known as the Shimacto Dilemma, and while the Aelfs were reintegrated, it created a racial rivalry which still persists. This lead to the Aelfs reimagining their culture to be the exact opposite of their former brethren, and they pinned themself onto learning and scholarship.

Subraces

While Aelfs are a subrace of Devkarin, they have many subraces of their own. The most notable ones are the Nindro, colloquially known as Wood Elves or Treekin, and the Sizdro, colloquially known as Fae Elves or Faekin.

As they're too small to deserve their own articles, they will be outlined here. The Wood Elves rejected the Aelfs cultural hatred for the Dromespo, holding no enmity. Their sensory capabilities are much stronger as a result of the Supernova mutation, so the Treekin tend to serve as the seconds to Warlord s.

The Fae Elves are very different from the rest of the Aelfs, having been in the slave barge closest to the supernova, mutating them much more than the rest of the Drow. They were mutated to the point that their physical aesthetic appearances became extremely susceptible to environmental changes. This results in the Faekin always have skin colouration and hair colour which resembles that of the current season of any planet they're on. Their moods are affected as well, with the Faekin tending to be much more sullen in winter, aggressive in autumn, and jovial in spring, and so on. Most scholars believe their form when in space, where they look like an Dromespo to be their "Base" form.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

While Dromespo tends to only come in hues of ash to purple, Aelfs are found with all human skin tones, plus the ash grey of the Drow.
