Military
All men of caste seven and below are required to complete two years military service. Castes eight through ten can also serve but are not required to. Females are not permitted to serve in the military.
Military careers are popular among lower caste men, since it's less focused on appearance and they thus have a chance to rise higher and earn more money than they might otherwise do, though largely only eights and above end up in the top ranks.
The military is mostly focused on national concerns. The police force is mostly military.
Technological Level
Due to its insular nature, the republic lags behind in certain fields, particularly social sciences and medicine, though most global technology is available here.
Religion
The Church of England was dissolved when the monarchy was abolished. The Republic of England is a secular nation and while religion is not illegal, it is frowned upon, and religious organisations are not recognised by the state.
Foreign Relations
The republic is very insular. While it maintains diplomatic relations and trade with most of the world, several countries have levelled sanctions against them for human rights abuses, and there's a lot of pressure from the populations of more progressive nations to cease relations with the Republic of England.
Immigration is heavily restricted and visas must be granted to all visitors. There is no Visa-waver programme. Similarly, Englishmen who wish to leave the country must apply for visas also, and women travelling without their husbands or families must apply to the government to leave the country. There have also been several instances of political refugees seeking asylum abroad.
Education
All children attend school from age five to eighteen. Higher education is generally reserved for men of caste six and above, but men of lower castes who score high on their IQ tests may also be given the option to study. Tuition fees are high, however, so most lower caste men can't afford it.
Women of caste six and above are permitted higher education as well, though mostly only within the arts and humanities, with allowances also for traditionally female professions such as nursing.
All sex is consensual. Love is arbitrary. Caste is absolute.
