Overview
The Zakon is a group of rebels that live on the various pirate islands on
Daire Ada. They rebel against the idea that everything that they own was originally stolen by the different pirates of the various islands. They want for all the pirates to turn into law abiding citizens and for them to get real jobs.
The Zakon Rebels started on
Morea Island in the city of Mordisi. Morea Island is unique of the Pirate Islands as it has been held by the Ridley family for over 250 years. It is also the only Pirate Island to be held by a Pirate Queen instead of a Pirate King. Since the Morea is more settled and stable, it has led to their being bigger ports and actual cities, rather than small mining villages and port towns. This stability has led to the cities and ports forming actual town councils, town watches, and neighborhood watches. It has also led to resentment towards the pirate rampaging through town every time they come back to shore, or move from one port to another from city to city.
The Zakon Rebels started are younger sons disgruntled because they couldn't take over the family business, but the didn't want to be pirates either. Being a pirate was what was expected of the second son. He was to make his own fortune which on Morea was being a pirate. BUT growing up on Morea, piracy wasn't the cushy lifestyle compared to staying on Morea. It was actually easier to be a miner, a priest, or even a beggar than to be a pirate.
These disgruntled second (and third sons) got together and started protesting the
Morea Pirate Horde Guild in 2842. They started out with peaceful protests outside of the guildhall whenever there was a big meeting, which wasn't very often in Mordisi as it isn't a port town. In 2846, Alham Redan, the third son of the local baker, rallied the rest of the Zakon Rebels into a real organization and became their leader. In 2848, Alham split his forces into three groups, one went to the port of
Alverton, one to the port of
Burnsley, and the last went to the port of Seameet with Alham at the head. Alham and the local leaders of each port started recruiting from those areas while promoting peaceful protests at the guildhall at every meeting and at the port every time a pirate ship arrived or left..
In 2852, Alham sent various Zakon recruiters to the other pirate islands to gain members and start the Zakon Rebel group on those islands. The recruiting was successful for as long as the rebels kept quiet about their group. The other Pirate Guilds were less lenient than the
Morea Pirate Horde Guild. As soon as the Zakon Rebels started their peaceful protesting on the other pirate islands, they were meet with various forms of violence. The group on 'Ahmar were killed outright. To this day, Alham has never tried to get a local chapter of the Zakon Rebels on 'Ahmar.
