Charhorns

Charhorns are large, bovine-like creatures native to Caldera. They have extremely durable horns and thick, obsidian-like hides that make them dangerous beasts. They are essential to Calderan survival, providing one of the few consumable liquids on the planet: Charhorn Milk, a warm, metallic-tasting drink that is rich in minerals and sustains Calderans in the heat. Their meat, often cooked until charred, is a common protein source. Additionally, Calderans fashion the horns of Charhorns into durable spears, a staple weapon and tool in their society, further showcasing the creature’s integral role in their survival.

Civilization and Culture

History

In 70 3E, when The Chosen Nine were going to destroy Caldera, they decided to evacuate the Calderans. Ob'Sidra agreed, but only if they could take their lifestalk with them. They brought a herd of Charhorns, alongside Blaze Hogs, a colony of Ember Beetles, and a supply of Gravestalk Root. After this, the Chosen Nine traveled to the Core of Caldera and fought the Caldera Guardian. During this fight, Adam Firstman turned into a Charhorn. These species all lived on Illon until the Fourth Era, when Calderans brought them to Odrus, a world that was much more habitable for them.
