Blaze Hogs

Blaze Hogs are large, ember-bristled boar-like animals native to Caldera, uniquely adapted to the planet’s fiery environment. Their meat, which spoils rapidly when cooled, is typically preserved as jerky with the help of crushed minerals, ensuring it remains edible for extended periods. Fresh Blaze Hog meat, with its intense heat, is a rare and coveted delicacy, often enjoyed only by those who raise the animals or possess significant resources. Their fiery nature and nutritional value make Blaze Hogs a valuable asset to Calderan life.

Civilization and Culture

History

In 70 3E, when The Chosen Nine were going to destroy Caldera, they decided to evacuate the Calderans. Ob'Sidra agreed, but only if they could take their lifestalk with them. They brought a herd of Blaze Hogs, alongside Charhorns, a colony of Ember Beetles, and a supply of Gravestalk Root. These species all lived on Illon until the Fourth Era, when Calderans brought them to Odrus, a world that was much more habitable for them.
