Townmaster Conalt was just a wandering swordsman, looking for adventure, glory, and wealth in the lands of Stormhaven. He had a small but growing reputation, and was hoping to compete in Count Thaedric Farwatch's tourney, hosted in Gavric's crossing. However on his way there he came apon a slaughter, a member of the royal family, was traveling to see the tournament, when a manitocre attacked and decimated there guards. They fled and the manticore chased, Conalt caught up to them, and slayed the Manticore. In reward for his valliant efforts. King Jakis Gale raised Conalt from a commonor to a Townmaster granting him Westedge
