Empress of Eternal Spring

At the dawn of history, eternal spring ruled over the world.
Her real name is lost to history, yet she is cited to be the first Empress in history. Her life is as much a myth as everything else of this age.

Origins of Mages

Elven history is a murky subject. Elves, more than any other species rely on oral tradition. They despise the written word and consider it treason to the authority of their elders. Elves are mostly concerned with their own history and have paid no regard to document the early histories of other species. Thus most of it is entirely centered on elves.   At the dawn of history there are ten elven nations, called the Aldrim. Shatun, Dumul, Kutek, Geleter, Kaolai, Eandu, Kenatan, Ishmak and Yupanki.   During this age, there was an individual, the first Mages according to elven tradition. This person was called the Old Master, his name is lost to history. He became a mage like no one else before. He gathered gifted individuals around him and taught them his ways. There was one student who overshadowed all others, a young woman of the nation of the Geleter. Her powers even eclipsed those of her Master. Time went on and she came into conflict with him. This conflict was about what roles mages should play in society. The Old Master had the opinion, that mages should keep to their own matters and be only concerned with unraveling the mysteries of the universe. His student however believed that mages should take a leading role in society and guide their people into a bright and prosperous future. This dispute grew eventually violent and the Old Master and this student gathered supporters. In a quick and decisive battle she and her supporters attacked and killed the Old Master and his other students. From now on she came to be known as the Empress of Eternal Spring, her followers the Guardians of Eternal Spring. They vowed to guide elvendom and create an Empire of prosperity.

The Empire of Eternal Spring

The nation of the Geleter soon took a leading role among elves. It has be said however that the Empress of Eternal Spring had supporters from all nations. Some have speculated that the nations of Kutek and Eandu had opposed her and were exterminated with their names left in memory. This Empire of Eternal Spring soon encompassed the entirety of western Illangar. Its borders are unknown. The Yupanki elves still hold the opinion, that they were never part of their founding their own alleged Empire of the Summer's Sun instead. Other elven histories digress on this matter.   This Empire was the first in history. The powers of it brought Eternal Spring to all nations. What exactly happened during this time is a matter of speculation and cannot be confirmed. It is said that the reign of the Empress of Eternal Spring lasted for over four thousand years and she became the oldest individual in history. At the same time it is said, that during her cenith she was also the most powerful Sorcerer. who had ever lived. Some even say that her powers could have defeated the Second God itself.   Yet this age of unrivaled prosperity came to an end. The Empire became decadent and its Empress sunk into dreams and nightmares. She became unattached to reality and was only concerned with higher matters. She paid no attention as her Empire decayed before her very eyes. Her spirit had aimed for the stars and left the world she had vowed to progress. Voices of discontent grew louder. It became obvious that something had to be done as the Empress was unable to deal with the situation of decline. At some point she decided that those who were against her were traitors to the Empire and to her vision of everlasting spring. She actively oppressed anyone daring to voice discontent. This lead eventually to open rebellion. One particular nation were the Dumul and their champion.   In a catastrophical war they attacked the capital of the Empire, Gan-Marihad and the palace itself. It is said that the Champion of the Dumul stood in battle against the Empress of Eternal Spring and defeated her. Therefore he ended the Age of Eternal Spring and ushered in the Age of Askareia.
