Geleter

Children of the Spring

Bringers of War and Peace, Guardians of the Eternal Spring and the Eternal Winter.
The Geleter are one of the four northern elven nations. The other three are the Dumul, Shatun and the Aldrim. Of these four they live the furthest south. They once inhabited the southern regions of the Mountains of Kaeirt and the tropical shores south of them. Their population vastly declined after the War against the Second God and never recovered much. Their homeland is nowadays mostly destroyed, yet some still hold on in various small enclaves.

History

Empire of Eternal Spring

The Geleter were the first elves to become the founders of an Empire. Their leader was the Empress of Eternal Spring, who reigned for over four thousand years. She was one of the earliest and most powerful mages in history, only preceded by her own teacher, the Old Master.   She established this Empire in the desire to usher in an age of unrivaled prosperity for her species. In her vision, mages would lead her people to glory and establish a wise and everlasting rulership. Her Empire did indeed last a very long time, if elven history is to be trusted, which it shouldn't. At the end however her mind grew distant from worldly affairs and she became incapable to rule, but refused to step down. A massive rebellion was launched against her rule and her Empire was brought down. The Geleter elves were punished and their dominance ended. With this victory, the other elven nations decided to found the Union of Askareia.

Age of Askareia

During the Age of Askareia, often called the peak of elven civilisation, the Geleter recovered. They were given an equal place within the Union, equal to all other nations.   When the War against the Second God broke out, the Geleter sided with the other nations against the Shatun. Their homeland however was very close to the epicentre of destruction and much of their nation perished in this war.

Later Ages

After the war many Geleter decided to join the Dumul and the Aldrim instead and assimilated. The number of elves, remaining part of the Geleter nation never recovered and nowadays only a few carry onward this name. Around two thousand still dwell in the ruins of their ancient homeland, most of them old mages, which refuse to give up on their traditions.
