Torinn

Torinn

Torinn was raised under the mountain of Pandesh by the last dragon, Alteryon, the ancient silver dragon. He was tutored for fifty years and taught many things, including the location of Lathenial, the destroyed capital of @Vizden whose name and location was stripped from all records following its fall to the dwarves in The Dwarven Rebellion.   A prophecy stood on the mountain of Pandesh long before it was inhabited by the dragonborn or even Alteryon. On the peaks, carved into the rock, are the following words:
The child of grief will be nourished by the serpent's augury. Swallowed by the world to be raised by one, his family will increase to the heavens.

By his actions, lands will rise or fall, or will disappear forever. He will meet his kin when breaks the earth and the stone.
Torinn was found alone and being nurtured by a couatl in a cave in the Pandesh, Mouth of the World" href="/w/ilarium-Hardiman12/a/threadspine-mountains-article">Threadspine Mountains by Pandeshi scouts. The couatl left, flying into the clouds, once it had handed over the baby half-elf. Torinn's parentage, suspected as being from the Forest of Clenn or Istarin Greatwood elves, is a mystery to him.   Torinn is actually born from relations between a female Neoth'Tor elf from the Forest of Clenn, Axandra Everwood, and a Vistani trader passing through, Morn Everwood. Due to the rules of the Neoth'Tor with regards to relations with persons outside of the clan, his mother took Torinn from the forest as a small baby and took to the caves of the Threadspines. Taking refuge, she left Torinn briefly to gather berries and whatever scarce food was available when she was killed by a bear in the unfamiliar territory.

Relationships

Anya

Met during his travels across Galbreth with Carric Liadon and Senlin in T.A. 281-282.   "After a long days travel with Carric and Senlin we took rest in a densely packed forest. Tonight was the night! Tonight was the first time I would be allowed to collect firewood for the evening. Up until now, neither of my friends had trusted me to collect the firewood, thinking I would get lost or eaten. But tonight they had promised, it was finally my turn.   I quickly moved off into the foliage looking for the dry thin pieces of lumber which makes the best kindling. Soon after, I started to hear a female voice call to me. Following the voice I emerged from the tree line at a circle of tall standing stones. Sat on a mossy stone pedestal in the centre of the circle was a perfectly mirrored iron orb.   The voice called me, no demanded, me to enter. Stepping into the circle a smoky faint wisp of a women appeared before me. She told me she was trapped here year ago and that the orb could help free her. Problem was she, as a smoky whisper, she was unable to reach the orb and she wanted me to help. I saw no harm so reached for the orb. The moment I touched its cold mirrored surface I was pulled from this world to hers.   Dragon dad, had told me once “there are many other worlds than this one.” But never did I imagine a world of such over saturated illuminous colour. Richer greens and deeper reds far beyond my world’s limits fill the landscape. Trees which seems neither to start nor end were the sole inhabitants of this barren Eden. It was silence, no animal or wind graced this land with their presence. The trees, however, were heavily laden with fruits the size of shields.   I was alone, except for her. The women who pulled me here. Now she stood, in the centre of a crumbling and aged standing stones, holding the orb. She introduced herself as Anya and apologised profusely, she had not known my touching of the orb would have had this effect. Anya further explained that now she has the orb we would be able to return to own original world, my world. But first we would need to find another circle of standing stones, a place where the barrier between worlds is weaker than normal.   So we travelled and talked and travelled through this endless forest of primary colours. We probably spent close to three years searching that forest until we found another set of standing stones. Those three years were perhaps the happiness time of my life. We spent the days talking and exchanging stories. Anya explained that she was once a squire to knight of the old noble family of Torr. And that she had become trapped here when a spell had backfired on the patriarch of noble family. She also pointed out that although she had been here countless years, she had not aged nor had her mind left her. We grow close, and at some point in those three years, we fell in love. Such was our closeness, I even told her about dragon dad. She taught me about the outdoors and I told her of magic and monsters.   Standing at the stones, hand in hand, we decided to travel back to our own world together. She used the Orb and yes, we returned but we weren’t together. I returned to my world in the standing stones by which I entered. I imagine she also returned to the spot she entered. Returning to Carric and Senlin they mocked me for taking three hours in the forest and failing to collect any wood. Unsure if they would believe my story, I decided not to tell them. Instead I vowed to find Anya and when I do find her, I swear on the blood of my father, I will not lose her again."

    Personal history

After decades living in near-solitude under the Mountain of Pandesh, Mouth of the World, under the tutelage of the silver dragon Alteryon, the last survivor of his species, Torinn is taken out onto the mountaintop and shown the prophetic carving which was old even when the dragons were young.   Alteryon tells Torinn the true aspect of his birth: a half-elf discovered abandoned in a cave, nurtured by a Couatl. His parentage, suspected as being from the Forest of Clenn or Istarin Greatwood elves, is a mystery. It was always presumed a dragonborn would be called by the prophecy, until Torinn's coming. Alteryon spoke of his plans to fly far across the sea in search of kin, to fade away and bring the age of dragons to an end, before pushing Torinn off the cliff to his destiny.   Torinn met Senlin in the valley and together they left the Pandesh, Mouth of the World" href="/w/ilarium-Hardiman12/a/threadspine-mountains-article">Threadspine Mountains and headed southwest toward the Windbreakers. En route they encountered Carric Liadon being ambushed by corrupt guards and saw them off. Carric accompanied the duo on. With Senlin's goal of moving towards the House of the Glowing Veil, the trio adventured across Galbreth through the early winter, becoming fast friends   In the Month of Darkest Night, the trio boarded a ship captained by Taowhiri in the port town of Dwellen. On the trip to Icarna, the party was ambushed by genasi of Zendíron, washed up on the shores of Kollerdörf. In the night, they were pulled by the mists into the lands of Barovia.
