Coin of Communication

Trinketry 101, Lesson 1: Coins of Communication
These are one of the most basic and essential trinkets, used to communicate with your Soulventure members. You as a Soulweaver are responsible for the crafting and upkeep of these coins. How you do that, will be explained in this lesson.
— Trinketry Manual for Soulweavers

Basic Application

In this chapter, you will learn about the applications of a Coin of Communication and why it is important you master this trinket.

Remote Communication

Coins of Communication work in pairs. One coin is only able to connect to another one, creating a link between those two. These coins can be worked into Soulsilk enhanced gear, like Arcane Voidgloves in order to be connected to a persons body. Once two people are connected, they can then telepathically speak to each other, as long as the distance between them does not exceed a certain threshold, which depends on the coins crafting grade.

Importance of Communication

Hopefully, you know from experience that communication is key within a Soulventure. Fighting alongside other adventurers can only be effective if everyone is on the same page, so these coins are the basis of success for a raid.

Mastery and Inner Workings

In this chapter you will get to know how these coins are made, how they work beyond the surface level and the complications you could face using these.

Crafting and Connecting

Coins of Communication are easily made. to forge one, you need gold, Soulsilk and a kind of conduit that, among other factors, decide the grade of your coin.

As a conduit, many different minerals or flora can be used, as long as the communicative properties are extracted. A common conduit is made by Extractweaving certain properties out of Wiretapshrooms and binding them to a crystal disk.

This disk is then wrapped in Soulsilk and sealed within gold plates, forming the coin. Make sure to leave a small opening for the Soulsilk for it to be connected to another coin. Once connected, the Soulsilk will turn more translucent the farther the coins come apart, snapping upon overstepping the range limit.

The Soulweavers Job

On plain fields, the only thing to pay attention to is not straying too far away from your companions. When raiding inside terrain more complex, like a forest, the connection between two coins will become more tricky. Since a physical connection through Silk between two coins is required, when traversing a forest, the Soulsilk will get stuck on the trees and bushes.

To counteract this, it is the Soulweavers responsibility to temporarily manipulate the Soulsilk to pass through objects. You will first learn how to disable the communicative flow, making it easier to "etherialize" the Soulsilk, but you should aim to master the coins to such a degree that you can uphold the links during this act.

Appendix 1, Glyphs of Communication

With the new invention of the Glyphs of Communication, an enhanced and simplified communication trinket, the use for commonly used coins is diminishing. While these glyphs lessen the burden on the weaver, you should stil be able to perform just as well with the "deprecated" technologies. Glypths will also only be available to Soulventures upon entering the third semester. For more information on the Glyphs, refer to the Glypth Manual.
