Session 12 - On the Scent
General Summary
Now well rested and fully healed from their previous adventures, the Party left Targos for Termalaine with an ever-growing baby Yeti and the ghost Janth grudgingly convinced that the Party was his best option for finding a way to move on from the Ethereal Plane.
The "Queer Trio" traveled to Termalaine without event and were greeted by the militia guarding the town's entrance with mixed looks of like and dislike, though all were tinged with clear respect following Zarra's impressive showing in her duel with the town's sergeant-at-arms, Klaus Hildegard. Upon entering the town proper, however, they were greeted with squeals of joy and excitement by the children of Termalaine, who argued excitedly about their "favorite" amongst the Trio. Upon arrival at The Blue Clam, they also were warmly welcomed as new friends by both Speaker Oarus Masthew and Klaus.
Over drinks by the warm fire, Zarra earnestly encouraged Klaus to reconsider his sworn oath to the dishonorable Lt. Skerrin Ristoff and, perhaps surprisingly, he agreed to give it more thought. Zarra also shared their plans to search for Targos Speaker Naerth Maxildinarr's secret prison. Klaus surmised that, if such a prison existed, it could only be in the woods just north of Termalaine, and not in the forest considered to be in Lonelywood's domain. He shared that Lonelywood was largely populated by former cutthroats and scoundrels, albeit ones who were oddly peaceful and pleasant as they made their life's journey from dishonor to honor. However, he added that they are known to be vicious when crossed, and he suspected that any encroachment on their logging territory with such a dishonorable prison would have been swiftly terminated.
In separate conversation, Zanborin mentioned his pursuit of Torrga Icevein to Speaker Masthew, who indicated that he heard rumors that Torrga had an unknown "silent partner". He suggested that, if anyone knew more about this, it likely would be "the old lady who runs The Happy Scrimshander. She seems to know all of Lonelywood’s secrets."
Upon leaving the Blue Clam, one of the children of the town approached Zarra and said she overheard their conversation in The Blue Clam, and suggested that she knew where the hidden jail was located.
