Hyrule Castle

Architecture

Hyrule Castle is most well-known for its strong, light grey stone walls and sloping, blue shingled roofs. The throne room sits in the center of the castle, flanked by east and west wings and their corresponding towers. A great courtyard extends from the front, stretching between the castle and the rest of the town. Its stables and servants' quarters are built in a similar fashion just East of the courtyard.   During the fall of Hyrule Castle, most of the West Wing was burned and ruined, and the fire even spread to The Temple of Time.

History

Hyrule Castle was built centuries ago by the first King of Hyrule, and has since been passed down through the generations of royal families. Legends say that it was once completely underwater, while Hyrule was blanketed in The Great Flood, but kept intact through the magic of the Triforce. It is also known that this is the same place where the Hero of Time was taken while Hyrule was covered in twilight, after Princess Zelda took up one last stand against The Usurper King Zant. Some say that the final battle to drive away the twilight happened just south of Castle Town.
