Kithanda City

Set on the western coast of the omonimous country, Kithanda City is its major port and capital city, the heart of the country economic and political power, but also the centre from which the corruption tha fuel its power irradiates to all the surrounding territories.
Founded several centuries ago in what was a prime position to take advantage of the newborn sailing techniques, the city bloomed with the influx of riches from the commerce and exploitation of the now accessible lands beyond the Svajan Sea.
In the early age of its naval supremacy, it lead to the first contacts with Dragons who so far had mingled with humans only occasionally and selectively. The knowledge of the existance of Magic and the importance of the Nezil to control it, caused a push towards the mining of this mineral, of which Kithanda is naturally rich.
The greed for more efficient and remunerative extraction of the precious material, started the practice of enslaving Makarids to force them to work in the mines as Resonators.
The city went from being a florid port of commerce and free cultural exchange to be a hub for corruption, greed and violence towards whoever was considered exploitable by the powerful oligarchy of the mining companies.
In recent years, some seeds of rebellion are starting to sprout, in particular from some enlightened groups inside its famous Academy, but the government is at work to suppress and silence these voices whenever they become aware of them. As a result many secret societies, often with links with the pirate and makarid population were born in recent years.
