Isle of the Faithless

The Isle of the Faithless lies off the southwest coast of the Arrimor Peninsula, a remote and desolate island known for its eerie isolation and grim history. Uninhabited and arid, the island is dominated by high cliffs that rise steeply from the sea, with a rocky interior devoid of significant vegetation. Legends of betrayal and misfortune surround the Isle of the Faithless, earning it a dark reputation among sailors and locals alike.   The island’s landscape is harsh and barren, with only scattered patches of hardy shrubs like Chorka and Pryval clinging to the rocky ground. The few plants that manage to survive in this arid environment do so by rooting themselves deep into the rocky soil, drawing whatever moisture they can find. The interior of the island is rugged and treeless, with little to offer in terms of shelter or resources, which is one of the reasons it remains uninhabited.   Despite its barren terrain, the waters around the Isle of the Faithless are rich with marine life. Schools of Melmakkir fish, with their shimmering golden scales, are commonly found in the shallows, while larger predators such as Giant Octopuses and Brossa hunt in the deeper waters. Thrasse, formidable sea creatures, are also known to prowl the coastal waters, making the island’s shores dangerous to approach. These treacherous waters, combined with hidden reefs and strong currents, have caused numerous shipwrecks over the centuries.   Seabirds flock to the Isle of the Faithless, making their nests in the cliffs that line the island’s coast. Alyrros are a common sight here, their piercing cries echoing over the desolate landscape. Gulls and terns circle the skies, diving into the sea for fish, while their nests are safely tucked into the rocky ledges high above the crashing waves. The island’s isolation makes it a perfect breeding ground for these birds, though few humans venture close enough to disturb them.   The Isle of the Faithless is steeped in grim folklore. Local stories tell of a group of exiles who were once sent to the island, condemned for betraying their people in some long-forgotten conflict. According to legend, none of the exiles ever left the island, and their spirits are said to haunt the windswept cliffs, cursing anyone who dares set foot on the island’s shores. Though these stories are likely exaggerated, they have helped to solidify the island’s fearsome reputation.   Due to its remote location and dangerous waters, few ever approach the Isle of the Faithless, and fewer still dare to explore its rugged interior. The island’s solitude, combined with the legends of treachery and death, ensures that it remains a place of mystery and fear, largely untouched by time or human hand.
