Margondalan Pantheon

The Margondalan Pantheon is very similar to the one worshiped on the eastern side of Drindera, likely brought along by those migrating westward along the southern coast of the continent which eventually became the Margar people.

Mythology & Lore

The Margondalan Pantheon centers around eight deities, chief among them being the Goddess of Life, Yinwah and the God of Death, Mavrosk. In the beginning, these two elder deities struggled for supremacy over the beings of Helemra, Yinwah giving life and Mavrosk taking it away. After The Pursuit of Amulira, Mavrosk realized that he needn't work so hard and that all who Yinwah created would come to him eventually. They recognized that one could not exist without the other and ended their feud, focusing then on working together with the other deities.

Mavrosk worked with Oderung, the God of War to create Kembra, the Herald of Battle and with Jindlar, the God of Trickery to produce Mirtar, the Herald of Assassins and Gept, the Herald of Poison. With old age, battle, assassinations, and poison working to bring him souls, Mavrosk turned to judging them and determining where they would spend the afterlife, thus his nickname "The Black Judge."

Yinwah partnered with Oderung as well, creating Sigra, the Herald of Victory in addition to partnering with Visstul, the God of Knowledge to bring about Mersidre, the Herald of Civilization. Yinwah also produced three children of her own: Erntwe, the Herald of the Harvest, Fiela, the Herald of Livestock, and Hipra, the Herald of Love.

Jindlar and Visstul partnered, bringing Salbre, the Herald of Magic into being. Jindlar has three sons of his own, Lugar, Seken, and Vilsten, the Heralds of Lies, Luck, and Wealth respectively. Visstul also joined with Golka to create Bolkar, the Herald of Travel. Visstul's two offspring are Regda, the Herald of Justice and Kantla, the Herald of Art.

Golka has the most children of any of the deities. In addition to Bolkar, she has Marga, the Herald of the Seas, borne from a partnership with Zirstur, the God of Tempest, as well as five children of her own: Visda, Kalwe, Burk, Epem, and Valta, the Heralds of the Desert, Ice and Snow, Mountains, Plains, and Forests respectively.

Zirstur and Himla, Goddess of Light, together created Prenn, the Herald of Fire. Zirstur's two other children are Hirkan, the Herald of Storms and Skutlan, the Herald of Earthquakes. Himla's three daughters are Somm, the Herald of the Sun, Nint, the Herald of the Moons, and Bunte, the Herald of the Stars.

Sects

Each of the eight deities in the pantheon have their own individual temples. While prayer to all eight is encouraged, the vast majority of people focus on one or two at a time. For instance, farmers are generally members of the Temple of Yinwah because of her ties to livestock and the harvest and will also make offerings to Himla or Zirstur.
