Maarik the Bloodweaver
Maarik (a.k.a. The First Vampyre)
Mythical son of Animar The Honored. Maarik was the First of the Vampyre Men. Men turned into Vampyres by the blood of Azicharok, who was the last of the Original Vampyres. Whose hatred of his makers, The Strangers, had led to him creating Maarik as the first of his kind. A being that would live at war against all things Living and Unliving in the world. A renegade of life itself.
In the old story. Maarik was cursed by his father, Animar The Honored. Because he watched his brother, Lyrak, be devoured by Lycanids. And lied about it, because he delighted in his brothers death. Maarik hid from those Men that would hunt him and hurt or kill him. Finally hiding in an ancient cavern that had once been a City of the Night Elves. But he was not alone in those depths. A beast from ancient days hid away in those caverns. The Last of his Kind. Those vile and predatory Vampyres. This beasts name was Azicharok. And he would first Kill Maarik, then his killing of him would birth him anew. The First of the Vampyre Men. He would drain Azicharok of all his blood. And become greater and wiser still.
In time. He turned a number of people into his first Children. The Harbingers of the Vampyre Courts. They attempted to raise a kingdom of their own in the Eastern Heartland. From what is now The Kingdom of Vyrantis. But The Ellician Empire fought them and laid waste to their dark kingdom.
Maarik himself has not been seen or heard from in thousands of years.
