History

Gunsmiths have existed since the Folk first came to Heimland, although they were known as "Engineers" at that time. Engineers worked at factories, most notably the Fortress-of-Sienna which would later become the official "Headquarters" for Gunsmiths all across Heimland in 20 AE.   The Gunsmiths have maintained their own unique culture and heritage, even writing letters and texts in their own alphabet: Agraraj.   Agraraj is a complex and ancient alphabet, composed of 87 letters (which include about 41 consonant-clusters): “A”, “Ā”, “I”, “Ī”, “U”, “Ū”, “E”, “Ai”, “O”, “Au”, “Ṃ”, “Ḥ”, “K”, “Kh”, “G”, “Gh”, “Ṅ”, “C”, “Ch”, “J”, “Jh”, “Ñ”, “Ṭ”, “Ṭh”, “Ḍ”, “Ḍh”, “Ṇ”, “T”, “Th”, “D”, “Dh”, “N”, “P”, “F/Ph”, “B”, “Bh”, “M”, “Y”, “R”, “L”, “V”, “Ḷ”,“Ṡ”, “Ṣ”, “S”, “H”,“Kṣ”, “Kt”, “Ṅg”, “Jn”, “Nc”, “Nj”, “Tth”, “Tr”, “Tv”, “Ddh”, “Dv”, “Nt”, “Nth”, “Nd”, “Ntv”, “Ndh”, “Nn”, “Nv”, “Ṡc”, “Ṡr”, “Ṣṭ”, “Hm”, “Tt”, “Ttv”, “Ktv”, “Kṣv”, “Kṣṇ”, “Gdhv”, “Stv”, “Nts”, Tsn”, “Rk”, “Rkṣ”, “Rṇ”, “Rm”, “Rddh”, “Rdv”, “Kr”, “Khr”, “Ṅgr” and “Ṅggr”. The script is written from right to left or top to bottom in vertical columns. Agraraj has been in use for over 2000 years, although its use is now mostly limited to elderly Gunsmiths and their closest descendants. Agraraj is also sometimes used as a form of secret-sender among youngsters.
