Velocigin Vehicle in Hastened Delight | World Anvil

Velocigin

A velocigin is a motorised velocipede.
Such vehicles may be regular veloipedes enhanced with a means of power or may be specifically built to run in a self-propelled manner.
Velocigins used for informal occasions are often lavishly decorated and may be seen in enthusiast's gatherings.

Propulsion

Power is typically released through a large coiled spring, which may be wound at a Crankhouse or a local crankshaft, though combustion engines can provide a greater distance and power for an increased emmision of noise and a higher price of operation.
Velocigins built with a lower price and easy maintenance in mind may only allow for self-propellance, whereas others may allow the engine to be disengaged, allowing the rider to make use of conventional pedals and obtain higher speeds.
This more versatile configuration is popular among casual enthusiasts of the velocipede sports, allowing uphill streches to be motorised while maintaining full reliance on the self for flat and declining streches.
There exist all manner of transmission systems and brakes, with each manufacturer having their own bespoke combination or approach to the problem.
Certain high-speed models for velocipede contests may be quipped with miniature parachutes and collision-reducing cushions.

Communication Tools & Systems

Velocigins, much like velocipedes, are typically equipped with mirrors and bells or push-horns for communicating with other beneficiaries of public roads.
Many hobbyists enjoy finding cheery or exotic sounds for their velocigins, as well as modifying the signal mirrors to generate magnificent displays of light shoud the sun's ray meet upon them.
This generally makes encounters with fellow riders a jovial experience, neglecting of course the occasional collision.
