The border kingdom of Lannanor was one of the great Seven Kingdoms founded by the Bright Deity. Used to facing all sorts of creatures in the jungles, they had some of the most renowned warriors of the Fair Lands.
Due to its strategic position along the Northern Jungles, Lannanor faced constant danger from the creatures from the Jungle.
Early in its history, the King of Lannanor and his people undertook an oath to defend the lands of the Fair Lands from any threats from outside the influence of the great light. Its capital city was strategically constructed to remain defensible during the harshest of sieges, while also always providing an escape route in case of defeat to the creatures of the jungle.
The neighbouring kingdom of Atilda to its south provided with an ever-standing safe haven, and their trade routes were the main artery connecting Lannanor to the remaining six kingdoms, and therefore were always kept as secure as possible.
Lannanorian society was built around the idea of duty and responsability.
From the very founding of the Kingdom, the rulers of Lannanor have been tasked with protecting the Kingdom from the aberrant creatures of the dark that lurk on the deep jungles of the North. Their capital city itself stands as nothing but a mighty fortress hidden inside the outskirts of the untamed woods, and acts as a headquarters for hunting parties, scouts and the entire of the Lannanorian army.
Because of this intense militarization, most Lannanorian commoners end up picking up their crafts as a secondary occupation to their military duties, standing up to fill the needs of the army whenever they can. Because of this, most other kingdoms understand their crafts and arts to be anything but noteworthy.
Smiths, Leather workers and military officers from Lannanor, on the other hand, are renowed troughout all of the Bright Lands, and therefore are very sought-after when abroad.
To most citizens, military training starts early, with simple excercises and tactical classes being taught alongside basic writing and reading. Men are expected to participate in physical training until late adulthood, while women are allowed to willingly stop when married. Unmarried women and all men will start taking part in military operations outside of city walls at 17, usually joining in hunting expeditions of less peril or reconnaissance missions around their fort cities.
A lannanorian marriage is an event of great importance, and a marriage between commoners unites their houses, as children of married families are raised together, and are usually allowed to train and leave on missions as a unit.
The capital city of the kingdom of Lannanor was built on the third year after the crowning of the Seven Kings of the Fairlands, on the year 150 of the Age of Light.
The first ruler of Lannanor was King Lane the Unyielding, one of the seven kings appointed by the Bright Lady during her last ceremony.
Lane decided the location for the capital city was to be the grounds of the decisive victory over the creatures of the Northern Jungle years before.
Upon the city's completion, a great ceremony was held, in which the king and his people swore an Oath of Warding, to ever remain as the defenders of all of the Fairlands. An oath that his descendants would fufill for centuries, until their later exile.
On the eve of 337 AoL, the Council of the Wise decided to banish the king of Lannanor along with his people from the Fairlands. This came after the king defied the will of the Bright Deity and thus renounced his right to his throne.
The declaration of banishment took place inside the great chambers of the Council on the year 337 AoL, and by 339 AoL the capital city had been abandoned by its faithful citizens, led by their former monarch, the Forsaken King. The cursed people undertook the perillous journey East, making their way into the deepest regions of the Nothern Jungles.
