Surya

Written by MacT09

A husband's bliss, curse divine. Stroll through the forests, tangled within vines. Crushing fear, and enduring hope. Balanced chaos by the mountain slope. Strength beyond, yet not of self. The great bird calls to you, giving you true wealth. To lead is to sacrifice, both pleasure and pain. Wonder from the mountain and you'll soon lose your way. Stay close young father to the one who is father before you. Learn from the oldest of things, as your heart is made anew. Carry on young husband as you stay in the light. Lead by example, lest you become your family's plight. Go, traveler, to the land of the father, so you may gain strength and encouragement for the journey ahead. Go, traveler, to the land of the husband and learn his ways, lest your heart be buried by despair and dread. Among the four planes of Hacienda lies the forest of Surya. Surya itself is a culmination of all the blessings and potential curses in being a husband and father in an unstable world. The virtues of male role models like uncles and grandfathers can be felt here as well along with the many other possible male roles one can fulfill. Strange monuments fill the forests and plains of this divided landscape, with hope and desperation frequently being felt and experienced here. Some monuments depict feats of great humility and courage along with displays of leadership, accomplishment, and fatherly love. Other monuments portray a darker visage, with ominous symbols of darkness, selfishness, and pride dotting the outer borders of Surya. One should never walk with responsibility alone. Consider your ways, and the Isles may lean in your favor. May Surya always stands as a pillar of strength for the rest of Hacienda.

Geography

Surya 5 by Tyler Berthoff
Surya is home to some of the mightiest trees and foliage are known and unknown to man. Oak trees are common here and are often great in size as they reach towards the heavens. Giant sequoias grow near the base of Mount Shaddai, embedding their roots deep into the mountain’s side. Yet despite these mighty trees and the strength they possess, dangers still loom among and within them. Festering diseases, left unchecked can make even the mightiest tree crumble like chafe in the wind. Vines can grow from unseen places, ready to choke out any life that lies within. Only the trees that grow within Mount Shaddai base can stand against the blight that besieges them.   The Forests of Surya are also endowed with a bright, heavenly light that shines threw to even the darkest places of the forest itself. Golden hues and orange embers dot the base and skyline of the forest alike. The rays of everlasting sunshine shines from Mount Shaddai's peak as The Great Pelican raises its right-wing to the sky, shining down on all Surya, giving warmth and majesty to all who dwell there. Towards the outer borders of Surya the light struggles against the darkness as corruption and evil breaks apart and reshapes into ever more twisted horrors and versions of itself. Beware of the outer lands traveler, less they corrupt your heart and lead you astray.   The canyons that split Surya should also be treated with caution, as the evil that dwells within them is constantly writhing and churning, ever so eager to push away Surya from Mount Shaddai forever. The Mountain in turn spews hot magma into the canyon's bases, renewing the damaged bonds that hold Surya close to the rest of the island. Mighty rivers flow out of Mount Shaddai'"s base, providing a never-ending source of nourishment for all the life that is found here.

Natural Resources

Ask, and it will be provided, seek and you will find. Gold, iron, and copper are found in great abundance here. The timber here is of the strongest quality in all of Hacienda. A home requires strong foundations with even stronger materials to hold the new home together. The father serves as a key role in this process of construction and growth. Take heed future fathers, as the best materials are found closest to the mountain.
