Hilltop-Capital
Hilltop is the Capital of the Merchant Conclave, the center of their trade network, and also holds a city within its city. Its high walls stand proudly and defiantly among the decay and filth of the surrounding swamplands, keeping the vermin and beasts that call it home at bay. Within its grey stone walls is a city built in layers upon a hill that more resembles a large round mountain, with cramped streets and shops on almost every corner.
However, Hilltop is built on top of the crumbling remains a once-great elven city, a city that the surrounding swamplands have been working to reclaim. Its name has been lost to most of the populace of Hilltop over the years, only known now as the undercity. A series of dark catacombs connected to a crumbling district of curved elven architecture within an open cavern that at one point was a ravine until its top was simply sealed over to make space for Hilltop above. Now, this crumbling district hold the unfortunate and the more criminal populace of the city.
Demographics
Like much of the other settlements within the Conclave Hilltop's population are mainly made up of humans with a scattering of other races. While people from all over Imin can be found within its walls humans are the most common sight when walking along the city's streets. Many of the nonhuman races within Hilltop are also usually part of the city's large slave population, though there are members of nonhuman races living as free citizens in Hilltop. Most of them make their home in the city's Undercity.
Government
Hilltop is under the control of the Merchant's Conclave, more than that it is the Conclave's capital and where their seat of power sit. Almost everything that happens within the city goes directly through the Jeweled Court, that said there are still people within the city that see over some of the more mundane days to day running of the city.
High Court Advisor Loris Delmar, A human man of slender build and old age. Loris has been the longest standing High Court Advisor to date, this long service has caused him to adopt a somewhat jaded personality, as not every problem can be brought to the council's attention and must be taken care of on a more local level. While he has gained a reputation of being more than a little difficult to deal with most will tell you he has done an excellent job in his years of service. Between him and his team of advisors, they monitor the activity of the guilds within Hilltop while also making sure that the work orders of the various guilds are being complete. While Loris is tasked with the basic running of the city he is also in charge of seeing to any foreign ambassadors seeking an audience with the Jeweled court, documenting their desired reason for a meeting, and organizing the event.
High General Yevin Mordover, A human man of muscular build and middle age. Yevin is a soldier through and through, often approaching everything like a battleground and being direct and to the point. While this has served him well in the command of both the Diamond Guard and Court Wardens, it has also made him a few political enemies as he is not afraid to, what some would call, speak out of line. Still now one can challenge his effectiveness as it was his exceptional command of these forces that allowed the Merchant's Conclave to restore order to their region as quickly as they did after the Long Night War. Being in charge of both the domestic and foreign arms of the Conclave's military Yevin's response abilities included protecting both the borders and the people of the Merchant's Conclave. A responsibility he takes very seriously.
