Domino

Nestled snugly into the base of Mt Cervus with little room to expand, Carrier has grown dense and tall. Originally a stoneworking town of quarries, this legacy can be seen and felt in the architecture of the district, with buildings made of basalt, granite, and slate dominating the skyline. Before even entering Carrier one will be visually delighted by these monuments of stone rising into the foothills of the mountains. One of the three ancient villages, Carrier is a city of stone, featuring some of the finest gothic architecture in the Empire.   It's been claimed that Carrier is legally defined as the region of the city were you can hear the bells of the Cathedral. While not strictly true the frequent chimes announcing prayer reach throughout the district. Falling under the voice of the Cathedral such is a fond cornerstone of life in Carrier.   Carrier is compared to a domino--a classic ivory one with ink black pips--the brightest whites will pools of the darkest black. For the most part, the people of Carrier are devout and resolute. But underneath everyone has their vice.   Carrier is home to some seedy joints and true dens of sin and debauchery that would make even a Skirts veteran blush. Escort services and love hotels are commonly patronized by priests and magistrates. The district's bistros openly serve hard liquor. Humidors and hookah shops sit right between bakeries and weavers.   It seems to many hypocritical that the devotees of Carrier indulge in the very same vices they condemn the lower classes of Granmont's southside of. But they would assert that its only because of their own superior moral fiber that allows them to engage in such pleasures without losing themselves like the undisciplined masses. So goes the pride of this district.
