Churchwall

The region occupied by Churchwall has been populated for at least a thousand years of recorded histories, trading hands several times. It is currently part of the Free Bounds and the Alliance.   Churchwall is a ragingly busy trading hub, with near constant waterborn traffic from both sea and river. Its location at the junction of a major river and the sea coast, combined with its sheltered bays and the unique tidal feature of the Island and its famous red clay has made it a strategic gold mine.   The entrance to Churchwall's bays and the river mouth is guarded by the Fortress, which was built around the original lighthouse on the cliffside and subsequently expanded over time. Its newest features are a freshly built seawall and several ammendments made to accomodate their newest prize: gunpowder cannons. No longer is the Fortress reliant upon the fickle nature of mages to protect the city. The future will be built on Brimstone and Black Powder.   At the tip of The Island is the Tower, housing Churchwall's dwindling mage guild. The mage lantern at the top of The Tower still retains its necessary function as a guiding beacon for the tidal bay and the mouth of the river.   At the peak of Churchwall's second granite plinth, home of the Sky District, is the Cloister. The Cloister is Churchwall's shining pride and joy. A true marvel of masonry and engineering.   Churchwall's sprawl is divided into several wards: the Crims, Midtown, Fishtown, Oldtown, and lastly but never leastly: the Sky District.
