Sacred Writings of the Cavern

Deep in the caves of Tír n'Oighear, the iced-over continent capped by the North Pole, in a cavern accessible only through narrow passages and crevaces, the words of the Creator are written on the wall. These words, translated from the original Aignaoi Pictograms by shapeshifters throughout the last two thousand years, form the basis of all aignaoi-based religions.

Background

According to tradition, poems and proverbs written by the Creator Himself were miraculously carved in light on the walls of a cave near the North Pole after the naered forced the aignaoithe to flee Inis Baile Mor after the War of the Night. The Eight were said to be present, and the words of the Creator supposedly inspired their own creations, which they carved into the walls around the divinely-written part.

Legacy

The Writing on the Cavern is the primary sacred text of aignaoi-based Creationism (see Aignaoi Creationism and Crathlian Creationism). Millions of translated copies have been sold in Crathlia alone.   The original writings still remain on the walls. None but shapeshifters can access them due to the cave's conditions (steep drops and tight squeezes alike, along with lava pools). Moreover it is considered a holy place, and only shapeshifters who have proven themselves worthy are allowed to make the journey.   Luckily for everyone else, for two thousand years, generations of shapeshifters have made copies of the texts for the perusal of the general public. Copies of the texts are considered sacred and must be burned with dignity if defiled.
