Adrian Ironwood
Adrian Ironwood was the patriarch of the Ironwood clan, the first to bear his name. The first famous metal manipulator, his infamy was so great that many warriors stopped wearing metal armor for fear that he'd turn it on them, as he did to many southern Paragons. Many turned to leather as an alternative.
Naming
Iron referred to the main metal he manipulated, and wood referred to the location of his home--in the middle of the woods--as well as his being a person who seemingly came from nowhere.Armor and Metalwork
According to legend as well as primary sources from the time period, he wore full steel plate that bent around him. It is reported that no one outside his immediate family ever saw his face. He often formed blades from the metal and threw them telekinetically at foes. His work with telekinesis and bladed weapons was imitated by many others, including Amalgams. This work with blades later developed into the modern martial art of bladework.Family Life and Death
He was considered by his contemporaries to be terrifyingly colonial shapeshifter-like. Confident in his good blood, he had six wives and forty children between them. He was said to beat his children in order to make them better fighters, and his wives were mistreated in similar ways. Many of his children were Drainers who, according to legend, murdered him in the night to save his wives and their siblings. Through this they earned the name Blackfade.Written by Cordelia Colbreak Evenbrook
