Fulgurist Society

Fulgurist Societies are the name given to Ossan social clubs. The capital has at least a thousand Fulgurist Societies, and everyone important belongs to at least one. Paying dues to a Fulgurists Society gave benefits such as admittance to events or locations. These social clubs also often have exclusive memberships, which act as an extension of popularity, especially amongst the wealthy elite and politicians. For example, Adriana Grappo was a member of at least a dozen Fulgurist Societies, marking her well-connectedness.   The Ossan National Guard keeps an eye on Fulgurist Societies, such as recording membership lists and writing up reports on social involvement since it is always a possibilities that such social groups could commit crimes, such as planning and carrying out an assassination. Dozens of court cases raised against members for crimes such as corruption, bribery, assault, murder, or mysterious disappearances can be traced back to club activities. Rumors about such activities are often sensational and include stories about a member killing his mistress on club premises or a member experimenting with high-resonance dazeglass, causing him to run naked through the street. More terrible rumors about Fulgurist Societies even whisper about cultish behaviors involving pacts with demons, cannibalism, human sacrifice, or grave misuse of shackleglass and fearglass.   Some examples of Fulgurist Societies include the Glasstop Cudgelists, a popular one amongst retired athletes, and the Glass Knife, a group responsible for the assassination of Adriana Grappo.
