Cudgeling

Cudgeling is a sport that involves two contestants fighting each other with weighted sticks while wearing powerful forgeglass earrings that increases their physical strength and speed. Matches usually last until one contestant forfeits, though death is also a possible outcome. Cudgeling is the national sport of the Ossan Empire, more popular than horse racing, cock fighting, hunting, and boxing combined.
STORY
Baby Montego is a retired, undefeated cudgelist champion, whose long and successful career gave him both immense fame and fortune. Despite being retired, he easily defeats Fidori Glostovika in a cudgeling match in the Castle Hill Arena, indicating that he is still the greatest cudgeling athlete of all time.
After Holikan, Demir Grappo makes money in the provinces by fixing cudgeling fights. However, his involvement made him enemies, forcing him to relocate every so often. In Ereptia, he works with the cudgelists Overin and Slatina, with whom he had a slight romantic relationship.
At the Castle Hill Arena, Montego and Demir con Ulina Magna out of her shares of the Ivory Forest Glassworks by using a cudgeling con they developed in their youth, where Montego would pretend to be fighting poorly as Demir made bets they knew they would win. This con got them kicked out of the Blacktree Arena.
Ossa's premier retired athletes club is the Glasstop Cudgelists Fulgurist Society, which sponsors the Castle Hill Arena.
