Vamnis

Rexlas: Vamnis /vamnɪːs/

Vamnis is the the largest city and provincial capital of Apan-Ódolalx in the eastern part of the empire of Resak. Before the rexan conquests of the region, the city was the center of one of the more powerful chiefdoms of the North Hótics and among their oldest, dating back to the hótic expansion following the fall of the Káaxans at the end of Laxilþía's bronze age. While not as large or populous as it is now, Vamnis had a number of temples dedicated to local deities, the greatest of which have survived and even been expanded upon, though the rituals there are now performed to honour either rexan or syncretic gods and goddesses.
After the long war between the rexans and hótics ended, the city rose to prominence as headquarters for the campaigns against the Laxúlans to the east and, failing that, the more recent conquests on the Tingrenis Plain, and now serves as a major crossroads connecting the capital to the southwest to the forts on the eastern frontier on one hand, and the coastal cities to the south with the new provinces beyond the Katark Mountains to the north.

Infrastructure

Rexan influence is particularly strong in Vamnis compared to other settlements in Apan-Ódolalx due to the legions both stationed there and passing through, and thus houses venues such as a market square and ceremonial plaza, baths and two amphitheatres to accommodate both the soldiers and locals. The mint there also produces all of Resak's gold and silver coinage.
The city has three gates, one leading to the coast of Akral Sea to the south, another to the capital of Arkis to the southwest, and a third towards the Katark Mountains and the rest of the province.

Geography

The city is located at the confluence of the rivers Noron and Talran, surrounded by farms and vineyards, the latter which are source of the province's famed wine flavoured with chili.
