Kirúkans

Dalran: Kirúkere
Kirúkere (dalríska)

The kirúkans1 are the natives of Valsó, the northwestern county () of Jasústó, the eastern quarter (stó) of the empire of Dalra. They are cousins of the Dalrans, rulers of the empire, and are known for their skilled carpenters, gold- and coppersmiths.

Culture

Kirúkan culture is quite different to that of the other cultures from the Zamra Mountains, due to migrating to the eastern Narannax Mountains foothills early in their history and subsequent contact with the surrounding cultures in the region.

Apparel

Kirúkans traditionally prefer lighter clothing than their cousins in the Zamra Mountains, due to the warmer climate in the region, with men wearing similar wrap-around loincloths as Imkalans use and women wearing simple, short-sleeved or sleeveless dresses. Nobles wear conical hats adorned with gold and colourful feathers, a custom brought from the Zamra Mountains but has now become obscure there.
Tattoos featuring floral patterns on the chest and back are common among the kirúkans, they are ubiquitous among the older generations as they are traditionally part of their coming-of-age ritual, but much less so among the young and those who've adopted dalran culture.

Art

Architecture
Traditionally, kirúkan families live in wooden towers to avoid enemies and wild animals, accessed by removable ladders of wood or rope, giving their villages the appearance of fortresses from a distance. Although the aristocracy in the city of Þúrmaha has since adopted houses in dalran style, many still have a small tower as part of their mansions for various purposes.

Warfare

Kirúkans are among the few tribes within Dalra which make extensive use of bow and arrows in combat, rather than more common slings, and generally prefer using spears and axes when fighting in close quarters.
