Crocodile Legion

The Crocodile Legion is among the most prestigious ones in the rexan army, on par with others such as the Eagle Legion, Pardus Legion, Serpent Legion and Wolf Legion.
Its totem, as the name might imply, is the crocodile, one of the sacred animals in rexan mythology. The soldiers traditionally imitate the beast's bellowing as a battle cry or hissing, though the latter is generally avoided when fighting alongside a Serpent Legion to avoid confusion.
Crocodile Legions are stationed in every province of Resak, specifically near rivers, lakes and swamps, both to keep an eye on important bridges, piers, forts and ships there, and also because the soldiers believe that they draw their strength and bravery from sources of freshwater. Many of their rituals require using and being in the presence of water as well.

Equipment

The most notable equipment carried by soldiers of the Crocodile Legion are their armour, helmets and vambraces made of crocodile skin, traditionally only acquired from the creatures that either die of natural causes or sacrificed during certain rituals in the capital of Arkis. Crocodilian imagery is prominent on the shields, greaves and -for the wealthy- tunics as well.
Since the crocodile was and still is a sacred animal to the other tribes inhabiting Kalis Swamp, homeland of the Rexans, each Crocodile Legion has its own standard based on these ancient designs, ranging from an image of the creatures on banners, to golden statuettes, to -more recently- a kind of draco standard featuring a crocodile's head made of iron.
