Serpent Legion

The Serpent Legion is one of the most prestigious ones in the rexan army, on par with others such as the Crocodile Legion, Eagle Legion, Pardus Legion and Wolf Legion.
Its totem is the rattlesnake, one of the sacred animals in rexan mythology. Traditionally, soldiers hiss at their enemy and some have their teeth filed to a point to make themselves look more imposing; the latter practice dates back to the wars with Dalra, where it was inspired by the Húlpakrans who fought with particular ferocity against the Rexans.

Equipment

As in other elite legions, soldiers in the Serpent Legion often wear custom helmets, armour and shields adorned with imagery related to their totem, some custom-made by skilled smiths, others given by the emperor himself. The shields are notably fitted with numerous small metal cones on the inner edge, which produce a sound similar to that of a alarmed rattlesnake when shaken before battle.

Weaponry

The weapons are generally the same as those used by other soldiers -traditional short swords, javelins, daggers- but of higher quality, and often adorned with precious stones and metals, and feathers.
