Celestials Species in Gates of Eternity | World Anvil

Celestials

Celestials are children of mortals and a variety of angels. They are a rather rare beings, with many internal subspecies on a basis of the type of angels that participated in their creation. They are also considered one of the most 'buffed' half-daemons (equalling pureblooded succubi) meaning that while they are relatively rare, they also have quite powerful inborn skills... while also being significantly more vulnerable to dedicated antimagic weaponry and materials (especially Antegnite and similar).   There have quitee many subspecies, with exact treatment relying mostly on the type of angel that participated in their creation. On one side we have White Celestials and Fire Celestials that mostly trusted and their blood considered something sacred by some religious cults of the Imperial Temple, on another Lust Celestials and Fallen Celestials that are either mistrusted (in former case) or downright detested (in latter case).   As in cases of all halfdaemons, only human genes are 'malleable' to the point of being able to always produce celestials in a pairing with angel. In case of other species, the rate goes down the more magical one is. For example a pair between forest elf and angel in 65% will produce a celestial with slightly pointed ears, while in 35% a forest elf with some secondary traits of celestials. The chance of celestial occuring falls to 5% in case of for example high dragons.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Normal humanoids, with two legs, two hands and one head. Exact details of their outward characteristics depends heavily on their exact subspecies. They have a common ground in terms of their natural talent for magic (the type of it depends on subspecie), and the fact that they are naturally beautifully.   However, unlike the devians that are naturally pushed towards femininity (regardless of gender), celestials are more balanced in that matter. With females being feminine (but not too much), and males being quite handsome (almost to the point of being called pretty) but still manly.

Biological Traits

All celestials possess an inborn ability to manifest a halo. It can be described as a ring floating above the head, its exact look depending on the subspecies, that is born from a concentrated supernatural power inherited from the angelic parent. Because of its existence, the celestials aren't as 'magical' as they should be - so for example they lack angelic wings or ability to cast magic from their own power.   Instead, they can sap power off said halo (even without manifesting it), essentially achieving the latter in different way. What's more, manifesting it causes a vast array of effects - for example supercharges their magic and causes some AoE debuff/buff to surrounding creatures. It also causes increasing rebound, so it's an inborn trump card that you can train yourself in using.

Genetics and Reproduction

Suffer from the same fate as many other 'epic' species. They are simply not enough of them to form stable population. It's rare for one celestial to actually encounter other of the same subspecies in his lifetime. If so, how are they supposed to avoid having their genes disappear in the general populatio after at best two generations?   They can have children with humans and all other species that can have children with them. Unless their parent was an elf (which is rare, due to elven blood being stronger than human and rarely allowing for a stable fusion with the supernatural), then they can have children with elves (but not with humans).

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

All of celestials tend to have an intelligence level slightly above average, with dumb ones almost never encountered unless there is some outside reason for it.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They are capable of detecting magic. Their natural sensitivity to it is beneath amalthians, believed to be most magic-sensitive species, but is still far above average. Because of that they are also naturally proficient at mana manipulation.
