Varcubi

Varcubi are a very old (and probably most widespread) type of half-daemons in the world. Nobody remembers what exactly were the beings that are the source of their daemonic part - since the change happened simultaneously and to a great number of people, no further offsprings were needed to keep the specie alive. In fact, nobody knows if there was anything even remotely sexual at the source of varcubi, with many believing that the merger occured via some unspecified technomagical procedure inherited from the Xylian Dominion.
They were created by humans of North Lana during their disastrous war against beastmen. When the modified children grew, their superior abilities allowed them to break the power of beastmen tribes during several decisive battles, securing their own future. They also spread, actually 'converting' the rest of North Lana simply by outbreeding them while crossbreeding. To this day they remain a quite notable sapient specie, among the most widespread outside of humanity.
Their females are also known as succubi, while their males are incubi. Due to the former being encountered by outsiders much more often, in common language succubi are a synonym of varcubi.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Standard humanoids. They, however, have notable differences when compared to baseline humans, mostly depenendant on their blood purity. The purer their varcubi blood, the more divergent they are. Pureblooded varcubi have tails, horns, wings (good only for gliding or for making them jump higher) and, which is rarer, hoofs. The least pureblooded varcubi (just one generation from becoming humans) have only small and barely noticable horns.

Biological Traits

Their black magic and mind magic is stronger (by even 50% among pureblooded ones), while the rest is similarly improved, only less (up to 20%). They are also stronger and faster, but not much.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Overwhelming majority of them lives on northern part of Lana, with the rest mostly scattered around coastal areas of Karadia - where they came in search of husbands and in most cases cease being varcubi after few generations at best.

Gender Ideals

The interesting fact about varcubi is that they seem to suffer from a very high disparity between genders. It depends on the level of blood purity, and ranges from four thinblooded succubi to one incubus, to nine pureblooded succubi to one incubus. This forced a rather radical redefinition of their roles in the society. Not only polygamy dominates in their society - with even up to seven women sharing a single man - women also took over all dangerous jobs due to the risks of losing their males.
